Battle @ Bristol ...surrounding area

My brother-in-law said they should play the Tennessee High and Virginia High game that Friday night at the race track as a test run. It will be the 100th game between the 2 schools.

Something about Ridgewood has changed. I live across the street from Ridgewood and it just isn't what it used to be. They are using more liquid smoke instead of actual smoking is what I heard. I guess it is hard with the high volume they push out

Pals on the other hand....you would have to be insane to come to the area and not hit up Pals:rock:

Ridgewood added a second pit so they should have more capacity than in the past. They haven't changed at all in the 20 years I've been going there.

If they ever change anything, it would be because they were forced to... Like changing a supplier for pork or potatoes.

Really I will be honest I was there in May and talked to the pit master and he opened one of the concrete pits. All I can say is unbelievable. I should have taken a picture.

I've been going since the early 70's, I was young, but it has never changed anything the best I can tell. I do not like slaw so know they serve there sandwiches with slaw on top.

Best BBQ in the Tri-Cities, and Alan is as cool as they come. Shame they decided to call it quits.

Good BBQ, lackluster sides. They were kind of like the Dream Pit that way. I am sad to see them close though. They were definitely top 5in the area. Which is saying something with how many BBQ places there are in the Tri.

I'm having a good amount of people over to my family farm in Rogersville after that game. It's about 45 minutes from Bristol. Bonfire and camping after a big win. Come one, come all.

Some good golf courses in the area.

Meadowview in Kingsport.

The Virginian near Bristol.

Kingsport has Bays Mt park, Warriors St Path park and Boone Lake. Downtown has started getting a couple restaurants but overall the nightlife in the region is all in JC.
Would add Country Club of Bristol to that list. A quality course that recently went public. The Virginian is private but pro to pro arrangements might be made unless you know a member.

We are driving our 45' RV over there on Friday. Hopefully we will find a place to park it.

We're taking our RV - we're booked at Shadrack Campground for the week. They may not have any more sites with hookups left. Not sure about other campgrounds. GO VOLS!

Tricities country club is right down the road from the track, it's public with 27 holes.
