A little off topic, but Where is the best place to buy a new nike UT football jersey? I've been to UTSports but seems a little limited. I want a 23 smokey grey and 7 Orange.

How is it that neither team is wearing white jerseys? My understanding of the rules is the home team picks what color to wear, and no Div. 1 school other than LSU picks white, and if you show up with any color other than white you will sustain a 15 yd. penalty on the first play of the game.

I'm pretty sure the contract for this game said that since Tennessee was the home team they got to pick what color they wear. Since they were going with orange VT could either wear light or dark uniforms including grey, white or their maroon. Basically they could have picked any of their uniform colors other than orange and would have been fine.

Georgia Tech also wears white at home.

Anyways, the two schools can wear colors with prior approval from conferences/NCAA. It's happened frequently over the past few seasons. Look at shots from recent USC vs UCLA games.

Those numbers are not available. They went away from doing specific player numbers a year or two ago. Moved more toward retired numbers and things like #98 (which is still but is more for 1998).

Rules were changed 4-5 years ago that if both teams agree and the colors contrast enough, both can wear colored jerseys. UCLA/USC got the ball rolling.

Also did you not watch the Tennessee/NC State game in Atlanta 4 years ago? Both teams wore their home uniforms.

Thanks for the input. I called around and most stores had only #1, 16, and 98.

So I reverted back to UT sports and was able to customize a jersey with number 23.
