Go early and expect to stay late.
That was the message from city officials who held a news conference Tuesday to announce traffic plans for Saturday nights Battle at Bristol, the long-awaited matchup between Virginia Tech and the University of Tennessee. Director of Public Works Tim Beavers said the plan is much the same for the races at BMS, with one major exception its expected to take fans four hours to clear out after the game.
Most people are used to the race and know the traffic patterns, Beavers said. We are going to have over 150,000 fans on the property. If we had to put an estimate on it, I would say about four hours for every car to clear out of BMS property after the game on Saturday night.
