Battle at Bristol: Goodyear Blimp Skydive

Saw this live from our campsite. It was a somewhat strange feeling watching a body plummet from a blimp for a little bit. I don't know much about skydiving, but I'm guessing this is a very low height to jump from. Those guys must really know what they're doing.

Also, if you recall they announced a possible storm warning that could hit the field at any time as they showed it on radar. well, I didn't think too much about it other than I hoped we had the lead should a storm come in but afterwards my wife said she thought about those couple of people or so that were up in that Colossus Jumbotron being around all those electronics & metal. Plus, even if you wanted to get down how's that going to work? You're just a captive I believe. Hmmmm, fried spectator. I don't think a lightning rod would have saved them.

So was the storm in the distance the reason the Goodyear Blimp didn't fly during the game? I kept wondering the whole time where it was...

I also was a little disappointed in ESPN Gameday's coverage of the jump. They showed it very briefly. Seems like they could have made a bigger deal out of it on TV for those of us who hadn't hit the road yet and were watching from home.
