i'm surprised we are so low. granted, we have a lot of new guys... and then there's the photo-dohdoh gate. this is by far the most talent pearl has had to work with in Knoxville. i know they haven't proven anything yet, but don't you think they are ranked pretty low at 23?

San Diego State? The same San Diego State we played in the tourney last year? Plus Florida at seven equals these rankings being laughable

surprised Va Tech is up that high. But, this should be their best team in... well, ever.

Even better than the Dell Curry days.

I'd be willing to bet that 9 of these teams aren't in the top 15 come seasons end.

I don't pay attention to basketball recruiting too much but what have the gators done to get ranked so highly?(ie top recruits, bunch of seniors....??)

The usual for a Donovan coached team. A soft, short group of guards and post players who will do nothing in the paint.

Both of what you mentioned.

Wow. Enjoy embarrassment if anyone remembers to bump this thread at seasons end. They have a post player to pair with Maclin who will be nasty. Should be their toughest front court in years.

The list is a joke. There are least 4 teams in the list that TN could beat by double digits.

SDSU finally makes debut in AP men's basketball poll - SignOnSanDiego.com

SDSU will be hard pressed to match their win total from last year despite the seniors. Jimmer will eat their lunch and they should also lose to Gonzaga and possibly St. Mary's.

Let me put it this way, I would not be pumped up about playing Illinois in the tournament, but give me Virginia Tech and SDSU please.

I'll be surprised if UF is in the elite 8 this year.

Thanks for the opinion/info but I still don't understand.. we seem to have reloaded with better talent and still have the majority of talent that led us to the elite 8 last year, minus jp and chism. Maybe I am putting too much in this freshman class but my expectations are to be in the top 10-15 all year long. Don't quite understand why we wouldn't be included.

We will be alright. The top 3 are interchanging in the East. Georgia may end up sneaking in the argument, also. If something crazy happens and Kanter misses conference play, I think Tennessee takes the East.

They were confused and thought Harry Litwack was at Temple.
This team has Lavoy Allen who Fields and Williams could handle and Fernandez who would be a tough matchup for Goins or Golden. Other than that? They are not even close to us! There is no Christmas on this team.

Dunphy has lost in the first round each year, last year to Cornel. What crack smoker is putting Temple in the top 15?

This list is pure crap.

As for Florida however they will be very tough competition for Tennessee in the east. Dan Werner is the only player that they lost, and he frankly sucks. He was horrific on offense, missing layups like it was his job. On defense he was pretty good, but only compared to the complete candy that surrounded him.

Florida has some very skilled guys like Boynton who should step up this year, they have guys like Maclin who transferred from Georgetown and took time to adjust but wants to be great, and a lot of very talented freshman including an inside post presence who was very highly rated in HS.

In UGA, Vanderbilt, Kentucky (even without Kanter) and Florida, Tennessee has 8 games against teams that have a good chance at making the tournament and being in the top 25.

I'm pretty sure Temple is a top 15 team. Remind me how Dunphy did last time he coached against Bruce?
