1.4 to 1.7 mil per year makes things realistic fast.

Barnes is from NC and wife is from near there, he is not exactly happy in Austin.
Prosser is getting fed up with being 3rd string at best in his state.

If being 3rd string in your state is a 26-5 record and a #2 NCAA tourney seed, I don't see where there is that much room for complaining. If we are able to take a coach from one of the ACC's top teams, then Mike Hamilton should be regarded as the best AD that UT has ever had. A hire like that would be nice, but I still think that type coach probably comes along after UT has enjoyed some success on bigger stages.

I think Mike Anderson at UAB has the style of play and charisma that the program needs. If he ever gets a chance at a University with some big name recognition, I believe he can do great things. He is very familiar with the SEC having coached at Arkansas and his brand of basketball is fun to watch. With C-USA about to be overhauled, now will probably be the best time to get him. Sure, there are bigger names that will probably be mentioned, but I don't know that any will be able to do any better job than Anderson.

Mike Anderson is not leaving UAB! Bham is his home and that is where all of his family is! Him and his wife just built there dream home there daughter is in the best school system in the state! He also is building his own program at UAB and with it only being Memphis and UAB in C-USA I do not see him leaving!

A big name coach will not come here! So look at a smaller schools like Winthrop, Pacific, and East. Kentucky or go after Johnny Dawkins at Duke or Matt Daugherty or Steve Lavin!!!

Steve Lavin ? Matt Dougherty ? Why not simply drop basketball ?

I guess you did not see the players Doughtery brought into UNC! He can get great players to come in and coach them!

Yeah, Dougherty was pretty good at Notre Dame and wasn't all that bad at UNC.

Now Lavin, on the other hand - I'm not sure I could handle looking at someone that uses that much hair gel sitting on the home bench.

It also dosen't hurt hen the school you recruit for is North Carolina. But there is no denying that he brought in one of the best recruiting classes ever. We need something like that.

My main concern with Dougherty is that he seemed to have discipline problems - lost control of his team (sound familiar?) Recruiting is half the battle. I'd sacrifice McD all-americans for kids that are coachable. :twocents:

It does no good to recruit great players if they revolt against you and lead to your firing.

I do not understand why everyone is so anti-carolina guys, doherty is a proven winner and great recruiter. he did have problems with his players because they were all whining freshman, everyone has seen the up and down moods of rashad mccants

Does anyone know if there's any validity to the reports being circulated that John Brady feels underappreciated at LSU ? He wouldn't be one of my top 5 choices, but we could (and have in the past) do much worse.

I personally think that Seth Greenburg at VA Tech is a good candidate. He did what was seemingly impossible in leading Virginia Tech to a winning record in the ACC. Right now he's getting paid half what Buzz Petersen was making, and I can assure you Blacksburg, VA is not an ideal place to live. Getting him to Tennessee would probably not be too difficult.
