I'll be onboard with a raise and a one year extension as soon as he wins the east.
Additional raise and two years extension for winning the SECCG.
Make the playoffs more money, more money more money.

Isn't that how it works for us stiffs out here in the real world? Produce results and receive rewards?

So...we are supposed to understand that we can't hold the coaching staff accountable now b/c of the unsettled situation in the chancellor and AD's offices, but he can still push for a raise and an extension in that same situation?

And...we are supposed to believe that Butch is SO busy recruiting right now that he can't talk to the supporters of this program directly or through the media, to make a statement and give assurances that he understands the issues and is committed to evaluating ALL aspects of the program to make improvements...but he has time to lobby for a raise and extension for himself? And we are also told he had time to kick the tires and gauge interest in other jobs, but no time to talk to the lowly fans at *this* job?

Time for looking after his own self-interest, but no time for accountability.

If that's true, then he is far more detached from reality and self-centered than what I already thought him to be - and that is saying something right there. Unfortunately, he is proving the doubters right. The ones who've said all along that he was just a salesman without substance, that he is thin-skinned and abhors his own accountability, they are proving to be right.

It's a shame. I'd hoped he had a real future here, but he just keeps on showing that he flat doesn't get it. Imagine if we had leadership in the AD's office, what they could do to help him...

No.. its only 1% with butch.. maybe instead of getting 1% better everyday, he should aimed a little bit higher..

The OP simply said Tony might have a point on *one* of his takes, and threw it out there for discussion on the board. The discussion is about a statement, not the speaker. And it wasn't something negative about Butch, it was about the financial impact on decision making within the AD. It happens to involve Butch in this case, but that's just timing. I don't see how that's Butch-bashing or Basilio Boot-shining.

Tony is needed in the Knoxville market. He rocks the boat a little bit, which is need since the rest of the media is basically a mouth piece for those on the hill.
