Enough to repeat it anyway ... He said yesterday, with a straight face no less, that Tennessee has a waiting list of 24,000 for season tickets. Now that's some great comedy. What are they? The Green Bay Packers???? No offense to anyone involved but Tennessee doesn't have a waiting list. Why else would they be selling over 10,000 tickets to two ticket broker houses for the past couple of seasons. Plus this year they were double and triple dipping on their big spenders looking to move tickets as late as a month ago. Hey ... It all sounds good. But think about what we're saying here. A 24,000 ticket waiting list? Did I miss something? Danny White said it was 14,000 last season. It's grown by 10,000? Was the Ohio State loss that impactful? Just a few questions ... Who? what? where? when? and Why? Are the Vols a 3 time defending champion going for a fourpete? Is Nick Saban going to coach here in the next few years? I mean ... I'm sorry ... I realize I'm the only one with the stones to say this but just because Danny White proclaims something doesn't make it true. And don't get me wrong, Danny is a great marketer but he doesn't and won't have a 24,000 waiting list for Tennessee Football at the prices they're charging. Surely Heup doesn't believe that hype ...

there is not a school or professional team in the country that doesn’t sell 10 to 15% of its season ticket inventory to one of the major resellers. They have a multi-year agreement, and they pay about a 20% premium over what season ticket holders pay.

They don’t do it to offload inventory, they do it because it represents a significant profit center.

The current “waiting list“ is an interest list with about 20,000 people on it. There are people on it that have interest in multiple areas, including boxes, premium seats, etc. Some of those people are counted twice to get to the “public” number of 24,000.

I recently was looking for tickets for the Georgia game this year. Here are the prices currently on stubhub. It sure does not seem they are hurting for business.

My son and I have been on the list for a few years. Maybe we are getting closer?
If you (not you literally but in general) aren’t donating money I think you’ll be passed on the waiting list by those who do. I feel like I read this when I also joined a few years ago. I’m at the point now where I think I would enjoy the games more at home than paying a premium to fight traffic and be confined to a 8 inch space on the bleacher.

I think Basilio meant to say season tickets are $24,000.
