Dude, what's with all the personal attacks? Are you REALLY this hostile and insecure??? If so, perhaps you should seek professional help. If not, then you should know by now that arrogant sarcasm is just plain ugly; on you; on anybody. C'mon, man. Keep it civil. GO VOLS!!!

What?! I mean WTH??? 4 Basketball players were arrested and now we should suddenly be waking up to how horrid CLK is to our University's image. I am calling BS! In case you havent noticed. Our average GPA's and graduation rates for the football team are up. Discipline has been much more pronounced and many, many players that couldnt hack it have voluntarily departed and those that have abused their opportunities have been summarily dismissed by this CLK. He seems to maintain very high standards both on and off the field for his team. The set of coaches we have working for us are of the highest caliber, never in the history of the program have we had such high quality assistant coaches. Certainly not during the CPF era anyway.

Yeah, Coach has made a few slip-ups with regards to a few secondary violations and he has called some other teams out in an effort to get UT some front page space and to build the feeling among his players that he will back them up and has the confidence that they can and will compete with the best in the country.

As for VT, yeah it was embarrassing. We got smacked in the mouth and laid down for it. Oh well, was a heck of a lot better than a 5-7 season and no bowl at all. I honestly doubt that he was spending much time worrying about this bowl game. He was probably more interested in laying more ground work for the future of the program by hunting for 2 new coaches to replace those that left before the bowl and working recruiting. A winning season and an appearance in a bowl game when you play the best conference in the country every year are not bad for a first year coach that hasnt even had a chance to get his own players in to fit his system on Defense or Offense. Its much better than several other well-known National Championship coaches acclompished in their first years prior to winning those NC's.

This book you posted makes some relevant points. However, I have said this so many times my fingers are tired of typing it: Seconday violations mean nothing!!! It does not mean the coach is intentionally ignoring the rules, usually it means someone else on the staff or the coach himself wasnt aware that there was a rule broken or it was a simple slip up. Not an intentional violation. Also, where do you get that he is thumbing his nose at the governing bodies from? He has all the respect in the world for the SEC and the NCAA, he has made that crystal clear in numerous interviews.

He has pointed out, as many of us have as well, that there does seem to be some playing of favorites by Mike Slive and the NCAA with regards to how some programs are treated preferentially due to their relationships with the head office such as Florida. Further, please compare the number of secondary violations that have been recorded since CLK came on board at UT to those at other high profile programs such as UF, Ohio State, etc.. We are not the "laughing stock" of the NCAA by any stretch of the imagination and the number of violations we have committed are no where near the top, they have just been reported a great deal more by the media due to the high profile nature of our program and our coaching/recruiting.

I truely feel there are plenty of people at ESPN, the NCAA, and SEC front office that want to see us and CLK succeed. He has plenty of friends in high places around the country due to his father and his many, many friends around the sports world. Once CLK gets this team to the level he wants them to be at, we will see that the media will start to come around and before you know it, we will be the darlings of the SECE replacing UF for a while before someone else is annointed.

Additionally, for further evidence of CLK's high standards of discipline and responsibility, please review this year's number of penalties and penalty yardage per game. We were one of the least penalized teams all year because of the high level of discipline he coaches into his teams.

Thank you for your time.

Hey '56, why are you injecting your political sarcasm on this Vol football site. Some of us PREFER George W. Bush and Rush Limbaugh to their alternatives. That does NOT make us bad people/Americans. Your not liking them does NOT make them bad people/Americans. Opinions, political or otherwise, are just that; opinions, no more; no less. BTW, how's that "change" working for you, so far? And no, for God's sake, do NOT answer. We really don't care. Trust me.

You'll get my response, like it or not, because this is still America. If you are gonna jump all over me for putting political sarcasm on this site, perhaps you should follow your own advice.

For the record, not that it matters, I voted for McCain, not Obama.

The expression of political views - including those which you or others may personally espouse - are misplaced within the context of this, "Tennessee Vols Football" forum.

So shut up about them.

Besides, in understanding the illogical and fallacious thought processes which your liberal leanings undoubtedly require, I am confident that you will provide us with more than an ample opportunity to mock and ridicule your many other beliefs, albeit in a more correctly forum-specific arena.

Additional punctuation is not needed to get your point across!!!! Just like you, I can have my opinion, and like it or not, I will voice it! I don't believe I said anything out-of-bounds about either one of those guys. Provided I don't go after his family, livelihood, sexual orientation, call him a name, or use foul language; I can say whatever I want about Allvol and his consistently negative posts.

I fear that if Vol teams don't become nationally relevant on the field soon, this fan base may turn into a bunch of moralists. Winning cures all.

As long as UGA keeps CMR, we can't win in that category either.

I have tried to listen to Basilio a couple of times but get really frustrated after a few minutes and have to turn him off. I try to learn something from him, but he just rambles and rambles. And most of the interruptions are just plain juvenile. It seems that he is trying to capture the 15 year old crowd. I can see why his program was cut from a couple of other stations.

If you want to hear some good radio on 1180 then catch the guys on Saturday mornings. Beano and Philly are usually pretty good without all of the goofiness.

You, sir, are laughable. You really ought to consider taking an anger-management class. In the sign-off words of the world's greatest newscaster EVER, the late Edward R. Murrow, "Good night and good luck".

I am embarrassed and p'od at alot of things, from the CLKs "false accusations" and then followed up by multiple "minor" infractions, the attempted armed robbery, to the embarrassing showing on the field, now the b-ball program, I mean what the heck is going on? Say what you want in defense of both Head Coachs and the programs, but I for one am embarrassed. I have been pleased at the resurgance of the B-ball program, and sure, I want to see Tennessee Football back where it belongs, but not sure I wanted to trade in our integrity and image for wins. I personally have defended both CBP and CLK, but tell me this, how can you "demand" discipline when you constantly are breaking the rules? How can you demand respect when you are constantly spouting off at the mouth and dissing other Coaches and other programs, laughing in the face of the 2 governing bodies that we answer to and daring them to do something about it? Now, I know you take 18-21 year olds and there is occasionally gonna be problems and you cant be watching over them constantly. For that reason I give both Coaches some leverage here, especially CLK in his first season, but CBP has been here a while, and these were not freshmen, they were guys that have been under his leadership for a while...there is no excuse. If you are a Tennessee Alum, or fan, you should be embarrassed and demand better for our University and State. Sure, we tend to overlook some things when we are successful on the field or court, but we shouldnt. I have read many threads on here over the past year in support of CLKs arrogance and brashness, and Im ok with that, to a point. To the point that it becomes embarrassing. We can laugh at the "jabs" at other Coaches from CLK, and understand when CBP sizes up attractive female reporters on National TV but some of you have went as far as defending the players packing heat, smoking weed and running around at 3 in the morning like its "just college kids being college kids". I say there should be a zero tolerance when it comes to drugs and/or guns, especially if it involves both. No questions, you are outta here. If you are with someone that tries to rob someone and gets caught with guns and drugs, see ya, you should learn to keep better company. None of us are ignorant enough to believe Jackson had no idea what was going on that night. White, black, Hispanic, old or young, you should have enough self pride and discipline, enough love for your team to make sure you stay away from those things, and if you dont, you need to go somewhere else, period. We can still win without you, we have in the past. These guys will be here 3-4 years, if they make it, but the image that they leave will live on long after they are gone. Look at "the U". This is what we are becoming and some of you seem ok with that as long as we can win some games. Im not. I love Tennessee Football, I have given alot of time and money to it over the past twenty years. But I am disappointed and want better. Should CLK change his personality because I dont necessarily agree with it? Nope, and I dont expect him to, I do expect that he demand respect and discipline from his players. I do expect that he protect the University and our athletic department and the image that Peyton, Al and the thousands of other Volunteers built during their time here. When CLK is gone, this University will mean nothing to him, we will probably be at the other end of his jabs. I am a Volunteer, will always be a Volunteer.

blah blah blah. If you've been around as long as you say then you were certainly privy to a "few" other scandals with our players along the way right? Let me refresh your memory with cocaine a Reggie Cobb just for starters. There have been scandals in the football program for years and many much worse than this year. This pellet gun business at the gas station was stupid but it really was, IMO, just college kids being stupid college kids. The response of the mass majority of the football team to CLK has been nothing but excellent so far outside of this one incident. Now as far as having the team prepared to play, I'd say you have a much better arguement there.

In regards to Saint Pearl.......I'll reserve further judgement until we see how he handles this.
