Hyams got the scoop this time because he actually has connections in his home state of LA and is friends with Cutty. As for Basilio, he is sports entertainment just like the WWE. He is the closest thing on radio to a message board. That is why so many people on VolNation like his show.

I listened to the program on thursday and Fri I and I don't recall him EVER saying it was a done deal or was gonna happen with anyone..until it was clear Dooley was the hire.

I'm sure he has some connections and even then Hamilton tries to throw the media off during these hires...at least that's what he stated in a GVX interview earlier last year. If you know a source that got it right and scooped the result a day or two before it happened, let me know....that's where I will start looking to for info. But as it stands NOBODY knew until the hire started taking shape.

I understand that in a smaller market like Athens or Tuscaloosa the local media is going to be a bunch of Pom-Pom shakers but what is it with the Knoxville radio and print media? I know it's not their job to be mouthpieces for the University but it's like they can't WAIT for some bad news to report.... Practically anything good that happens is downplayed and the slightest whiff of controversy or embarrassment is harped on for weeks (or MONTHS) at a time....

Because people read what they want to read. He never said that either was a done deal. When he first posted about Muschamp, I emailed him and asked if it was a done deal. He replied that what he was posting was what he heard they offered. Never said it was done.
