Basilio Has It Right

Have you considered how our lack of depth, experience, and talent might be hindering our coaches' halftime adjustments? We basically only have our starters. The plan all week and they come up with a plan to beat the other team. It works for a half until the other team can adjust to it.

Normally, a coach that can come up with a good plan like that will also be able to adjust that plan. I think that our coaches have been unable to adjust the plan because our players are not capable of doing anything different. They aren't able to change personnel. They aren't able to put in anything complicated because of the youth. Their players can't make on-the-field adjustments because of lack of experience. They can't even rotate guys because of the depth.

It seems to me like they're coaching with one hand tied behind their back and it's really showing up in the second half of games.

Yes-I agree-I just said it could be argued-that's it. To not score any points against Oregon or Bama at home for 4 quarters is a little alarming. That's all.

Is TENNESSEE supposed to COMPETE? you come here to win games, conferences, and championships, not to compete... main problem with our program atm... win baby win

And this is not meant as an attack on Dooley

Yes it is. You can't do something so obvious and then explain it away by saying "i didn't mean that".

"This 'Mother of All Bombs' isn't meant to blow sh*zz up"

Does that make sense? I wish people would'nt wisper through their buttholes and just come out and be what you are, an over critical jack wad who's never stepped foot A on field B. Basilio's a pandering wannabe.

Where's your tipping point? (Til it becomes "if not, we lose"??) Bc that's kinda broad isn't it? The "if not" is what these posters are going bonkers over. I'm not saying we've reached my "if not", but I'm curious as to where yours is.

It's about the players and getting them to play to their capabilities more often than not. Right now, recruiting is a gigantic issue. Number of men on the field matters, but it's not something that I believe this staff is omitting or fails to understand. When I see something that it appears they're leaving out, I say it.

Tipping point will be next year if we look brand new again. We won't be brand new and we should be creeping back into view of the better SEC teams. If we aren't, we have a problem.

'Creeping' being the operative word. This season was a few years in the making and will take a few years to climb out.

these comments are 100% dead on. You guys who deny what's being said by a grad and fan are idiots. Look at what is being said, it is accurate. clowns.

Basilio has it wrong just like everything else. We are competing in the first half with significantly less talent than Kiffin had last year.

Amen, brother. Last year, the Vols had experience on the O-line and at QB. Plus, Kiffin coached not to lose vs. Bama and Florida to keep it close through four quarters. Dooley allows the kids to play and make the mistakes.

I know we're clowns, but could you help with a little interpretation here, so we can understand which are the bigger clowns.

Seems like you kinda said a grad and fan is infallible, which makes the rest of your drivel pretty well senseless. Help a clown understand.

Wasted time and breath. Dooley has some things to clean up,but this squad isn't going to pass an eyeball test against a team like Bama.

I just don't like how pass happy he is. Running takes time of the clock and makes the game shorter. Helps our team that is thin not be on the field as long. Everytime Simms misses it leaves more clock on the time and gives their offense more chances and more time to wear our D down. Our RB is better than our QB. Flat out. I'm not saying once Chaney has his Drew Brees here he wont be great at calling games. But right now Drew is not coming out of the locker room.

Calling out the coaches is weak stick crap. They are clearly as frustrated as the fans. Dooley went through at least two headsets during the UAT game due to busting one for only having 10 guys on the field.

Our biggest problems are very clear.
1. No offensive line. We have players, but they are young, and young linemen in the SEC get your beat.
2. Our DB's flat out suck. I called out Art Evans last week. Same old Art this week. The coaches are so fed up with sloppy DB play there was a guy in the game Saturday I had never even heard of.

3 runs and a punt don't help the D much either

It's what talking heads do who have 3-4 hours to fill up with something. In Atlanta market they're filling time blabbing nonsensically about Dooley's humoruous analogy of german army getting fixed to get run over by allies.

In all of the games we have played how many times did we go 3 and out by running?

How many did we go 3 and out by throwing?

We're losing because the situations Chaney is putting us in. 3rd in loing over and over because he always throws on first down.

Perhaps you should count the number of defenders in the box on 1st down. Most of the time they're putting 8-9 in the box on first down daring us to throw. We consistently run against that and we'll be 2nd and 3rd and long. The answer is to get more efficient at hitting some passes on first down and loosen up the defense so we can run more successfully. If we run more successfully then play action will be more effective.

See how that works?

so Basillio's basing all this on substitution problems.....talk about a weak case to call the coaches bad

Yea and his side kicked said he didn't agree with and why then 5 minutes later he said ignore me I only believe 25% of what I just said.. Basilio and the wind go hand in hand which way is it blowing today?...

Anyone who is happy with Dooley needs to go look at the recruiting class he has so far. Out of 18 players committed, two are 4* star players the rest are 3*. It's ranked 24th at rivals and the 2nd most disappointing class in 2011 so far.

If Dooley was brought in partly because he can recruit, then he isn't living up to expectations.

Didn't Dooley come to the party kind of late? I'm new here and just trying to get ya'lls feelings for this weeks game, but this thread reminds me a lot like Carolina after Lou Holtz. Not that we had any long standing success before. It took SOS 2 years to clean up Holtz's mess and only then could he start recruiting. Hence why we only had 9 seniors on scholly last year. Lame did a job on UT no doubt and the void will take awhile to fill. I just see a lot of youth on your team that is under going trial by fire. With a school of UT's tradition I know that this is not customary and even harder to stomach. These young men will get better. Good luck to ya'll Saturday!

negavol check list-- dooley

1. wasn't worthy to come here
2. can't coach
3. can't count
4. can't recruit

that about does it....now repeat this over and over every day on volnation.....

Shouldn't we wait and see how good they are, instead of only basing an analysis on subscription sites that are nothing more than media for fans?

Ok, then tell me this:

What team did we beat that we weren't suppose to?

What coaching decision during a game impressed you?

What has he done here since taking the job that makes you feel he is doing a good job?

it was often said last year with the previous coach, how it takes time(as in years) to develop relationships with recruits.....apparently dooley doesn't get that slack, but is a failure if he doesn't magically produce a top 5 class this year...
