Basilio flip-flop

how is hart going to get gruden, and convince him that the academic standards will change?

he will have to convince someone else. I've had Gruden at less than 10% chance from the get go.. just don't think he will deal with college football....

I am beginning to think you are right. But we do need a name to bring significance back to UT, because we are on the brink.

As far as TSR I would listen to Ainge and Swain but I would never waste my time listening to Basillio. He is nothing more than a Finebaum want a be. It has been years since I have heard his show but I stopped when he went to 20 minute commercials.

I'm not going to expect to hear anything official til the end of this season. Hopefully, after a bowl game.

Not a big fan of recruiting classes, huh?

If we do cut Dooley, we are better off doing it after the Kentucky game. We could put an interim head coach in place and let the new coaching staff begin recruiting until after the bowl game.

That post pretty much sums up your VN history of dumbassery.

And don't speak about the mental capacity of others. Please. You maxed out in 6th grade. Once you get past the anger, you'll be ok.

Oh look. My favorite Dooley boot polisher. Do you havbe a good supply of Kleenex for when your hero is canned? Haha

What role/input does he have in the decision process? Does he have veto power?

Well, Cheek himself has had his power severely weakened in recent weeks, so not really input in the decisionmaking process. But financially, he has ways to greatly influency how moves happen. If that element of his power has also been significantly reduced, then his opinion won't count at all.

A lot of conflicting reports on Cheek in the last couple of months from the tower.

LOL, everybody is wasting their energy believing any of this coaching stuff ... Hart has remained silent on the issue and everybody thinks that's a clue? ha, no ... it simply means his stance hasn't changed.

Looking for improvement and Dooley will be evaluated at the end of the season.

Are people expecting a weekly presser from Hart entitled, "This is how I currently feel about Dooley" ???

All these rumors are pure speculation, so ya'll believe what you want. I guess that's what message boards are for, ha

But, But, But Gruden has already agreed to become the next coach at Tennessee!

Don't forget to throw in the emotion of the board and media outlets... End of season evaluation is the answer with one more year in consideration. Many do not want to hear this but it is the reality of the situation.

Contracts for coaching staff, avoiding another change for players, time given to Dooley and his new staff are simple reasons. Money.

Not waiting it out and finding the proper replacement for Fulmer's or Boy Wonder was the first mistake....second was a CBP type hiring and the AD thinking he could pull this off cheaply. Unfortunate this happen.

Ballislo and others are all about keeping an audience listening and in panic. Of which most fall into that category as fans.

I am passionate about the Vols in all sports. I will wait this massive mess out. We have so many self inflicted sucking chest wounds that has been used by the media outlets to feed the frenzy of choas.

All this talk about buyouts, new coaches, booster has left the fan base anxiety ridden. Worn out.

Between all the media, fan base boosters and fans no wonder we have a mess and panic.

It's hard to know what to believe but I do feel like UT has very little room to mess this up:

In a way we sold our soul in the 80s & 90s when all the major facilities expansion was going on and we decided it was unacceptable to have a stadium smaller than 100,000. I have posted before that, even considering the potential cost of buying out DD and his staff, the monetary difference is no worse than flat given the potential cost of not hiring a proven coach that will bring life back into the program and fan base.

I would, personally, be furious if it comes to light that Jimmy Cheek or other administrators were responsible for blocking the hire of a name like Gruden. Enough so as to hold back future donations to the University for athletics and otherwise.

I was at the Akron game where the actual attendance was no more than 75k. For most stadiums in the United States this would be a huge crowd, Neyland looks empty at this level. It made me want to puke.

This is all compounded by the fact that we are in our worst four-year stretch in more than 100 years. Meanwhile, the SEC is in the midst of a run never before seen in college football. Historically we rank in the top two programs in league, all as a charter member. Too many things have gone wrong the last 10 years and this is the time to fix them.
