I don’t care for a large number of the hosts on 99. So, What I do is stop listening. I don’t blast those folks in because I know it’s their actual career. In fact, I’m surprised this forum allows thread topics blasting individuals in our media like Hyams, Heather, etc.

Regarding Tony, He has his flavor and it’s not for everyone. He does bring news and has lately had better info and broken as much or more than anyone on 99. As we’ve seen, Hyams has had more than one really bad call on hires.

I’m sure you could fill three hours of radio, sell your own advertising, book your guests and do this with zero support from a media group. I don’t think the average person realizes how well Tony has done without ANY support. Tony’s show is a caller based show. It’s great for what it is. Sorry you don’t like it. Take your own advice and just don’t tune in, move along, instead of disparaging a guy trying to earn a living in an ever changing and evolving field.

Tony should do a live podcast with Super Chat. He would absolutely kill it in that format. However I know he would say he's a "radio guy" and wouldn't do it. Too bad.

This is online only. If you haven’t noticed, the rules and format completely change in the 3rd hour.
Tony and the folks from the show have done a ton for Roger.

What do you do in Augusta ? My daughter and her boyfriend just moved there - he works for a big defense contractor that has a golf cart division - she does interior design work with a local firm.

I never said I wanted him back. He has said on multiple occasions that he regrets leaving here. How do you know that he did not want this job? What kind of evidence to could you possibly have the support that? Just because he is not our coach right now does not mean he did not want the job. Don’t be blind, don’t be a sheep, and don’t put words in my mouth.

What proof do you have that he wanted our job other that you hope it to be true bc you want to be able to think this job would actually attracted a decent candidate? Bc someone said “he wanted it”?

I offered reported proof that it was just “Lane being Lane”...I can link the podcast of McCready reporting it + 2 other reasons why he would not really be interested.

And yeah I wanted him in 2017 so you’re right I wish it was true that he was our coach and that he had real interest

Been a fan of Tony's show since the very early days back when he was on 620AM. I discovered it by chance. I was a student at UT and would do occasional work for 620AM when they got in a pinch and needed someone to work. I used to board op for Tony's show when he was on WRJZ and I have remained a fan ever since.

In 2018 when Tennessee beat Auburn I was unable to watch the game. Hurricane Michael just leveled our area and we were without power for about a month. The wife and kids ended up heading to Knoxville to stay with family and I was home alone trying to clean up the mess left by the storm. I called in to the 5th quarter after the Auburn game and told Tony that I was unable to see the game and unable to listen on the app (cell phone service was barely working at the time, we could make calls and send texts but had no internet). Also talked to Tony Robinson that day as well. After my call they ended up putting me on hold for the rest of the 5th quarter so I could listen. Made life a little bit better knowing the Vols won and that among all the devastation of the Hurricane I finally had a connection with the outside world at least for a little while.

I don't listen every day but I do when time allows. the 5th Quarter after the game is usually better than the game itself. Schiano Sunday was one of the best shows ever.

Always like to hear Barney Boy call in but I have not heard him in a long time. Roger's food adventures are always hilarious.

I know where we are, but I believe we are too much of a tradition to not come back to power. I see a lot of people saying we are done, and that is disappointing.

I listen to Tony Basilio until I burn out, then I switch back to Swain, until I burn out, and then back to Basilio. I'm in Cali, so there's not much Vol talk out here. I used to listen to a show with Ainge, but to me, he just doesn't have the personality, or enough inside scoop to keep my attention. I was a fan of LockedonVols with Josh Ward, but Basilio and Swain are just better in my humble opinion. I'll listen to anything Brent Hubbs, and Austin Price have to say about anything. Love those guys at Volquest. I don't miss Jesse Simonton or Nathanial Rutherford much though.

Tony B. has helped several get started in the business. A few have even stabbed Tony B. in the back.

Also say what you will about Tony B. No one in the Knoxville media does more to help people in need than Tony B. That alone is reason enough to listen and support Tony B.
