Based on both games last night. If you were Pitt, how would you game plan for us?

It looks like the Ball State coaches were dropping back a lot of guys on defense keeping everything in front of them, hoping to stop the run and pressure the QB with 4 or 5 guys. I would try the same if I was Pitt, shut down the long stuff, give up the short stuff/short runs in between the 20's then hunker down in the red zone and try to turn TD's into FG's.

If I was Pitt id run the ball down our throat for 4 quarters and exploit our depth/talent issues. On defense they'll probably take the running game away which shouldn't be hard to do with our Oline/running back talent. They have us beat on both lines and we have them beat at Qb and coaching. It'll be a dog fight and hopefully we can outscore them. They have a bad secondary like us and skill wise were pretty similar. Should be a great matchup to see what we really have.

Pitt couldn't run it vs a West Virginia team that surrendered 140 a game on the ground last year and that lost 8 starters on defense, including their leading tackler at linebacker and best defensive lineman, both of whom transferred out. They managed 76 yards on 38 carries and their O-line got stuffed on run plays. WVa also poured into the backfield and got 5 sacks. So I don't think they can just line up and run it.

Pitt was able to somewhat exploit the WVa secondary, who had to replace 3 of 4 starters. But they only really scored 24 points off any kind of drives.

They had a defensive td and the defense also recovered a fumble at the 5 that resulted in a 1 play, 5 yard TD for 14 of their 38. When a team can turn 5 total yards of offense into 14 points they're going to win most of those games. Hopefully we can avoid mistakes like West Virginia made that gives Pitt easy points.
