Ole Raybans don't look too bad compared to this staff......

Clearly, it appears more and more likely that the Raleigh hire was a true whiff. I don't know if it's coaching or recruiting, but we seem to be slipping slightly every year. Delmonico was the reason that Delmonico was fired, I don't know of any AD who would keep a coach around who continuously clashes with them and lets the results slip. If we were making the CWS every couple of years, Hambone would have let it slide, but we didn't and that constant disagreement was the death nail. I remember when Delmonico was relieved of duties, it was said that several former players said they would have no involvement with the program until he was, which certainly wasn't a ringing endorsement of his personality either.

The main reason he was fired was team APR, GSR, etc, not on the field results. Delmonico never stressed academics and that worked 10 years ago, but that'll kill a non-revenue team under today's rules.

Raleigh is in danger if he doesn't win this year, but he's been worlds better dealing with player academics. I believe that's why there was a big backlash from the Delmonico players when he first got here. They were used to doing what they wanted.
