Bars to visit on the Strip

On the strip, I'd recommend Charlie Pepper's. Better atmosphere, better food, and if you like to drink liquor, as I do, they still have the old-school Hawkeyes Animal Hour (3-for-1 mixed drinks 9 p.m. to 10 p.m.) every night, as far as I know.

Off the strip, I definitely endorse the Downtown Grill and Brewery.

Just finished watching Gone Baby Gone at the Downtown Regal. Think I'll hit the aforementioned Downtown Grill & Brewery for some drinks.

Does anyone remember the Lap and the good ole' days? Hanging out there until you could barely afford 3 Krystals and or a bean burrito at Taco Bell? How many times have you staggered into Krystal and thrown a bunch of coins on the counter at Krystal and said "How many Krystals can i buy with this?"

No, I stop in a couple of times on every trip to Knoxville. I think it's a quality theater.

Just scored some free tix so we will be making our own tailgate in front of the Law Building parking lot. All are welcome to come throw back a cold one. Just Yell "Bowles" as you walk by and I will say whats up.

OH I DO! The Lap and the Library! So many nights of closing that place down and somehow staggering up the strip to throw down some lose change to be able to eat some nice hot cheese Krystals!

Speaking of Krystals, can't wait to head down to Nashville for the CMA Awards next week..leaving on Sunday and I will once again be pulling over in Bowling Green to eat at the most northern Krystal!

Sack full of Cheese Krystals and an extra large SWEET TEA! :)

Old College Inn doubled its interior, added a deck, and a gang of flatscreens. It's solid now, order spicy cheese bings if you go there :pepper:. Also, although it is on gay st, the DTGB is walkable and they have had a shuttle in the past also. I like their beers beter than calhoun's- calhoun's beer give me the mudbutt.:shaking2:

The Lap and the Library, memories, yet very, very fuzzy!! $1 beer nights on Wednesday, gotta love the Natty light when your on a college budget. Haven't been to K-town in almost 5 years. Thankfully for me I will be moving back in about 6 months, can't wait.

Oh and why Krystals, when Gus's is just down the hill?

Barleys in the Old City has the best selection of microbrewed beers and there is also a place in the middle of downtown that has a great selection of bottles but I don't remeber the name. Speaking of the Lap, we actually convinced our Psychology TA to let us out 15 minutes early on Fridays so we could get a seat at the bar by 4pm to partake of $1 pitchers. We also used to crawl up the hill back to the dorm after Ivy's $3 beer bust. Quarters, the Ice House, Vick and Bills on the strip, the Original Longbranch Saloon, the Roman Room, and the Tap room, where I was gainfully employed for three years, godbless you Larry and Mike, were some of my favorite bars back when I attended UT. Not sure if they still have a special but the Copper Cellar used to have $1 LITs from 4-7 on Fridays.

we walked the strip last night and I was greatly disappointed. there was no one at any bar we stopped by. only maybe 10-20 people at each bar. hopefully the scene tonight is a little better.

Gus's? I wasn't made of money back in the day.
$.35 for a Krystal was hard to beat.
I was a Vic and Bill's man. The random Conga line through there at 2 am from the Carousel..amusing. I miss it.

Neat story..So i take my kids into V&B. Remember how they were always hurrying you along when you ordered? So my kids are "ummmm...uh...I would like...uh". The old guys behind the counter are are about to have a panic attack.
So i go to pick up my order and the one old guy says,
"Oh, this is the order for the guy with all the time on his hands."
Nice.
