Some friends and I are going to Knoxville for the Vandy game and I am trying to find out what bars are good. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

I have already heard that Calhouns on the River is the place to be on gameday.

just walk up and down the strip. you'll find somewhere. copper cellar is a good place as long as you dont mind not having a place to sit. it's gets a little crowded in there.

Calhoun's on the River is great early season when it isn't too cold. Not so sure how it will be in late November, but it is a good spot.

Head downtown and visit Gay Street and Market Square. Try: Preservation Pub, World Grotto, Downtown Grill and Brewery, and Sapphire. On the Strip, you have Copper Cellar, and then you have everywhere else.

Half Barrel and Charlie Peppers were my stomping grounds... at least after Big Daddy's went out.

Tell me about it.

I was all about some Liquid on the strip, now its Bar and it's just not as classy.

I like laid back establishments... so I didn't really frequent Peppers on the weekend or Monday... but Wednesday from about 6 to 12... Oh yeah baby!

Isn't that in the same spot where The Lap/Library used to be. That place used to be nuts.

Also try Toddy's or Opal's if you like the laid-back beer drinking places. Little off campus but still great fun.

Well I was being sarcastic if it wasn't apparent.

Toddy's is good because you can buy bottles of liquor at their store and drink them there.

I'm a fan of the Bean though.

 it wasn't. I was like "Man... what is he thinking?" But didn't want to call you out. To each their own.

I'm not a fan of Cool Beans.

We used to do Campus Pub and Mike & Willies back in the day. Off campus was Fiction > Boiler Room.

When you know 3/4 of the bartenders, it's nice to get your drinks in under 5 minutes and sometimes have your tab "forgotten about"

That's a decent perk. I have a buddy that had a similar situation at Half Barrel. :good!:

Toddy's has moved their liquor store. The bar and liquor store are now about 10 blocks apart.

Charlie Peppers is a good time, but I think they've lost their liquor license, so only beer is sold there right now.

Half Barrel is ok...pretty good selection, but kinda expensive.

BWW's is a good time, lots of tv's and big screen projectors to catch other games.

If you go downtown, Downtown Grill and Brewery is good. Microbrews, decent prices.

Old City has Barley's, with a huge beer selection.

More like 50 yards.

10 blocks might be a stretch, but it's no 50 yards. The liquor store is across from Krogers, but the bar is down past ruby's, the old mckay's, and I think a couple little shopping centers.

Either way, they're now separate. I have to say I frequent the package store more often than the bar.
