Barnett personal foul

Lots of talking between DB and the linemen from Nebraska. This flag was thrown because DB pushed one of them after 2 got in his face and wouldn't back off.

DB has a history of getting PF penalties that date all the way back to his playing days at Brentwood Academy. He made headlines his senior year in the state championship game. He has a motor that runs hot, sort of comes with the territory. I ain't mad at him.

Buncha people said before he even signed and from his freshman season, that his aggressiveness would cost the Vols a game...never did. On the contrary, it set him up to be a special talent here and at the next level. Hope he visits every year to pass that on.

Was at the game, and Barnett definitely was stalking Fyfe all game long. He would linger around him after the near-sacks or after Fyfe had thrown the ball and I'm sure he was jawing at him.

He also walked back to him once and looked to be saying something to him.

I would guess the flag was for something similar to that.

Barnett was yapping all game. Great player, but don't yap all game.

Yeah I love DB but he does play with that little edge that can get you in trouble sometimes. That's one area where he and Reggie White are different, Reggie talked but he was usually quoted scripture and encouraged the opponents. That prob annoyed them more as Reg blew past them to make a sack. I heard Walter Lewis quarterback at Alabama say one time Reggie hit him so hard his head bounced off the turf. Reggie picked him up eye level and said "Walter, God loves you brother!"

Anyone see what the PF was that was called on Barnett? Just curious. He had to have been annoyed since he was held on half the plays and it was never called. I wondered if he took his frustration out on a cornhusker or if he was telling a ref how bad a job they were doing.

I do know that the 2nd or 3rd play of the game with us on defense the Nebraska offensive lineman took a swing at derrick and they jawed back and forth until the ref's stopped the game to talk to both head coaches. Damn, I'm going to miss him!

I was sure it was gonna be in the Husker for excessive celebration. They never showed Barnett or even talked about it after.

Exactly what I thought! I felt he used the ball as a prop. Similar to what Juan Jennings did this year when he acted like he was throwing the ball up and hitting it with a baseball bat.

BS!
Last collegiate game, playing in front of his home town, he can yap all he wants......... Besides he backs it up!

At DE you kinda sorta really want that aggressiveness. Hey, if you can back it up then talk it up as long as it doesn't hurt the team. Can't think of a time it did in his career.

I thought the flag was gonna be on Nebraska. From my vantage point I could clearly see the player that caught the td pass dancing around in the end zone.
