Best line from Monday's presser:

"We've got Barnett Island now."

LaTroy Lewis when asked about DE Derek Barnett's pass breakup in coverage against A&M.

STRONG.

Great play by Barnett, but he should not have been in that position. The LB (McDowell maybe?) should have rotated and didn't. Absolutely amazing that Barnett recognized that pre-snap.

We've been dropping Barnett back in coverage the past few games, mostly in the first half. Only a few times per game, but it is designed.

Ah ok didn't hear Butch say that. It appeared there was pre-snap confusion between Barnett and the LB. Anyone have video of the play?

I remember seeing it in real time thinking the same thing but must have been making sure the call was right JMO

I guess you could but then your whole argument will end with him telling you the pass was knocked down

Missed the game because one of my idiot best friends got married Saturday DURING the game. Any idea what part of the game this happened in? Want to see.

In the press conference today, Butch said that was a design that they mix in. He did joke, "we don't want to make a living doing that." Just part of the confusion that Shoops mixes in there. The DE's sometimes drop into zone coverage.

Barnett is a true talent and a future top 3 pick in the draft, he could very well go #1 depending on what the team with first pick needs.

Anyone wanting to improve thier DL and pass rush would be stupid to take anyone else IMO..

When I saw the play live, I said, geez our CB's have GOT to start turning to look for the ball. Then I'm like, OMG that wasn't a CB - that was Derek Barnett almost stride for stride with Kirk!

You need to explain the facts of life to your idiot friend.

Barnett dropped back in zone. It was a planned zone blitz. His backpedal...flawless.

$$$ for Barnett. This an several other plays where he ran down ball carriers on the opposite side of the field show elite speed and motor. Look to be the best DE in college football. NFL teams my even see him as a LB in certain situations.

I was at the game. When he made that play I stood up and yelled that's Barnett, a real DE covering a WR, to all the Aggie fans in my section
