Ole Miss has been doubling him all night.Even with an all Sec left tackle trying to block him.I think he has 2 sacks a couple of tfl and several tackles.I haven't seen a freshman DL since Clowney have an impact like him.

I watched Barnett play in high school last year. Him and AJ are the MVP of the defense this year!

Jones just said he had 10tackles 2 sacks and 4 tfl.What a game for Mr.Barnett.Could be all Sec as a tf.I mean this was suppose to be the best lt in the sec and Barnett abused him and aND a double team most of the night.Great game young man.

Before the season a lot of people were pondering who would be the most impactful freshman. Most picked Hurd, or Malone, but it would be hard to argue against Barnett in my eyes.

The 5 best statistical performances from Tennessee DEs in the past 15 years:

* Parys Haralson (SO), 2003: 43 tackles, 14.5 TFL, 4.5 sacks, 10 QB hurries, 1 fumble recovery in 13 games

* Parys Haralson (JR), 2004: 43 tackles, 13.5 TFL, 7 sacks, 19 QB hurries, 2 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries in 13 games...2nd-team All-SEC

* Parys Haralson (SR), 2005: 45 tackles, 16.5 TFL, 8.5 sacks, 12 QB hurries, 3 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries in 11 games...2nd-team All-SEC, 5th-round draft choice

* Jason Hall (SR), 2005: 51 tackles, 13 TFL, 7 sacks, 5 QB hurries, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery in 11 games

* Robert Ayers (SR), 2008: 49 tackles, 15.5 TFL, 3 sacks, 1 INT, 6 QB hurries in 12 games...1st-team All-SEC & 1st-round draft choice

Derek Barnett has 38 tackles, 9.5 TFL, 3 sacks, 3 QB hurries, and 1 fumble recovery in 7 games so he's on pace to match or surpass the guys above as a true freshman.
