Congratulations DB. I know you will make Tennessee proud on and off the field, as you did for 3 years here. Thanks for being a Volunteer. :hi:

"Barnett declares for NFL"....gotta love the media and/or VN attention grabbers :ermm:
Is it likely he does, probably but no where in that short article and no where in that tweet does the word "declares" come up. In any case, thanks DB for your three years of the Beast player you became. My hope until he actually DOES declare is that the tweet was simply a thanks for the 3 years and he can't wait to experience the 4th separating himself from Reggies record.

Probably ends up as a Cleveland Brown. They have the first pick.

I think and hope they are dumb enough to rate Garrett higher than Barnett.

IMO, Barnett is fairly clearly a better all-around defensive end, but Garrett has the measurables that wow scouts.

As of now, I think their pass rushing abilities are about equal but I see how, in time, Garrett could become a better pure speed rusher than Barnett since he is a physical freak, and NFL teams will rate Garrett higher probably because of that.

Way I see it, Barnett is an every down player while Garrett is a third down guy.

I wonder how Garrett will hold up? He seems to have injury issues.

I hate wishing Garrett to fail, but I really hated how everyone rated him higher than Barnett because of his "build" and all those cupcake snacks he got that they gushed over. Now that Barnett has out done him all is quiet..

You know, I fear he (garrett) might have durability issues as well. Not that I'm wishing that on him either, but I think Barnett has the natural body type and motor to be a much more consistent player in the nfl.

As a DE, you are probably right. He also could be an every down guy in a 3-4 scheme with a LB that rushes the passer every play (like Von Miller).

The knock on Garrett, which is why I don't think he's as good as Barnett, is that he's 1) just a pass rusher and 2) is too heavily reliant on his speed to rush the passer.

According to ESPN Draft Board Barnett is ranked #31.The #30 player ranked above Barnett is Stanford RB Christian McCaffrey. #1 on espn's board is LSU RB Leonard Fournette.

I'm not sure Barnett has the athleticism to play OLB in a 3-4. He is much better suited as DE in a 4-3 IMO.

I'm talking about Garrett playing OLB in a 3-4. I think he's best suited for that.

Barnett is definitely going to be playing DE in in 4-3, but he could do it in a 3-4 as well.
