So let me get this straight...

Is Barnes too “soft” on these referees when bad calls are made or he knows they’re bad calls but doesn’t want to risk getting a technical resulting in a shift of momentum?

Barnes has been coaching for over 30 years so if our players/former players have a problem with him not showing any emotion, shouldn’t they have known how he was before signing with us?

That’s what I can’t seem to figure out.

From a fan's perspective, I remember loving Bruce getting T'd up during his time here. It was motivational for the team, and I don't remember that costing us any games. I think there are times when he should go off, and times he's smart to stay quiet, I don't know...

I hope next year he goes out there and gets T'd up every single game. Just go out there and punch a ref before the game starts so that they know what's up and that he isn't "soft". I also want him to whine after every single game when the calls don't go his way. Whatever he can do to make and ass out of himself and UT do it please.

The latest tweets from Turner and Admiral are what I would expect from two kids caught up in the emotion of losing a winnable game.

Social media is a blessing and a curse...a blessing that we have instant access to information on everything, thus its curse.

These guys get screen grabs sent to them of similar plays with leg kickouts, contested 3s with no calls, etc. on a regular basis which is just ripping off the bandaid again.

So now it becomes drama....This is Tennessee!

Barnes works the refs. If you watch him, he is constantly talking to them. He does it so he doesn,t show up the refs. Now is that best way to do it. I don,t know.

That's not entirely true. One thing Barnes has always said in his testimony is that there was a certain point in his career (I believe halfway thru Texas) that he hit a point where "he wasn't coaching for the right reasons" and that his emotions would sometime get the best of him coaching. He hasn't always been very focused on his faith as a coach until the second half of his Texas career and now here. In my opinion, he has chilled/mellowed out a bit. Is it part to him being on the back stretch of his career? Maybe. Is it him sticking to a new way of coaching that he switched to 10 years ago? Maybe.

Totally fine with his attitude and style of coaching. The one thing that confuses me is during Conference Tourney week and March Madness, everything is multiplied x1000...

I'd buy season tickets immediately.

Tennessee needs some WWE Flavor

He was smart to stay quiet on the Turner foul. It was a bum foul but had he gotten a technical they would’ve gotten even more chances to put the game away with more free throws. They weren’t going to reverse the call anyway, they didn’t even review it.

He wasn't going to get a tech there regardless of his actions unless he stepped out of the box....

In all honesty, I was expecting Turner to get the tech because of his reaction and deja vu from the Iowa 3 pointer foul...

Refs aren't making a questionable call there only to T someone up immediately after.

I like winning. I dont care of the coach screams and dances all over the sideline or sits in his chair.
In the Purdue game, the team still had time to play and win. Why get a tech to "fire the team up." Yeah, great idea. We are tied, lets yell at the red and give Purdue two more shots and the ball, sounds like a great idea.

So in more stressful situations a leader should change their actions? Ill try that with my guy next time I show up to a high stress call ill yell.and scream to add to their stress and see how they react. Standby, ill let you know how it goes. ......

Just kidding, ill remain calm because in most cases everyone else calms down as well..

The five second throw in could have probably been reversed (Right?) You can't reverse a foul and getting a technical would only make things worse. The only other thing was that maybe look at where he stepped out, but I don't think any of us noticed that till after the fact. I just don't understand how getting a technical would help any matters there.

I'm not saying scream and yell, but urgency should be shown. Barnes did show it a bit in the second half before the 14-0 run when he benched Bone after a turnover and got in his face.

Just saying when you are 1 of 16 teams left, things tighten up and there is less and less room for mistakes. And by mistakes, I mean from everyone. Our players, coaches, the refs etc..... Everyone needs to be held accountable. Like what I don't get is why Barnes was fighting during the review before end of regulation on the time on the clock. Not when the timeout was called, but the clock starting before Grant even touched the ball. Let's say they fix that and not award the timeout as early as they should have. We have anywhere from .4 - .6 left on the clock and time for a catch and shoot.

Is there a chance he and the staff didn't know? Sure.... But they had replays going on in the gym that showed that.

Barnes is definitely a players coach because at times it seems he lets the guy play their own ball. But he historically has bad luck or bad scenarios that screw him over...

I think the real nut punch here is that Admiral is done at UT and it sucks that he won't be around next year. May have been a 3 star but he is a program changing guy that went out on a sh!tty note.

As fans we can discuss and have our opinions all we want, but the fact is that 2 prominent players on last year's team feel it was an issue. And that's not a good sign, imo. Doesn't look good for potential recruits and it probably means things behind the scenes with the current players aren't as rosy as we would have originally believed.

Of course, Barnes has been doing this a long time and has experience working through these issues. Hopefully things will smooth over and be fine in the long run.

Barnes and Mark Richt have a lot in common.

I would compare Richt to Coach Cal even though Cal has a title. No one has done less with more than Cal.....

Think he has had 27 first round picks since UK and only 1 title in 10 years..... Not exactly the UK way...
