Some significant records will be on the line when Memphis comes to Knoxville
Given the Hardaway - "Rick Barnes, get the [expletive] out of here,"
Hardaway said Tennessee players came over during the scuffle "with their fists balled, talking trash to our guys."

Those ridiculous Hardaway comments just add significant fuel to the fire when the 16th ranked Tiger High tries to end one record and delay another.
Bad Blood and Hardaway's defiance of the NCAA will make this situation even more volatile given the importance of the game for Tennessee and what the result will mean for postseason positioning.
The VOLS will have to depend on keeping their composure and Senior leadership over the young Tigers
Play cool and smart - take care of the ball and limit turnovers - and give Barnes #700 against Hardaway

Hardaway is a scumbag. Barnes has more class in his pinky than Hardaway has in his entire body. Mark my words, Memphis will be on probation within 3 or 4 years. Hardaway is a classless, rude, cheat.

Just curious how big the crowd will be. I've not been to TBA in long time but, if I lived within a 2 hours drive to K-town, I'd be there. Packed to rafters like a Kentucky game or something less?

Anyone who says this is “just another game” is bonkers or lying. This may be the biggest game Tennessee plays all regular season.
oh please give me a break...playing a midmajor who cheats and has never won anything with a mediocre coach with a terrible record is not "the biggest game"...

Its a decent game at best, the only real reason they are even mentioning it is the bad blood coming from Penny. Other than that I agree with the above poster Rickyvol77, Memphis is trash, its a non conference game against a mid major. The Washington game they played earlier this season was bigger than this game IMO.

The need to print a balled up fist and put it on one of those head posters. Pass them out before the game.

Students should proclaim it as "flop day" and flop all across campus with any contact. Play it up big until the press covers it.

Students flopping for the TV cameras before the game would be great. Penny's a joke that should be laughed at. Someone should a make "flopping" instructional video and use only last season's Memphis game tapes for all the examples of the different styles and techniques.

Really time for our students to be a factor. Be creative, witty, outside-the-box with your posters, cut-outs, chants. Get in Hardaway's head and the Tiger player's heads. Be the toughest away game any of their players will ever experience. Have them walking out of TBA shaking their heads.

Mid-major in football, perhaps, yes. In basketball the label does not fit. Memphis, along with a large number of other "mid-major" football schools are every bit as major as Tennessee, Kentucky or any other major school in football. BTW, Tennessee/Memphis is "must-see" viewing to everyone else and this game with be hyped by ESPN and others all next week leading up to it. ESPN's game between Tennessee and Memphis back in 2008 was the most widely viewed regular season basketball game ever. That covers a lot of territory, and bests the likes of any other Carolina/Duke, Georgetown/Syracuse type match-ups.

Mid major is midmajor....there is a reason Tigger high has NEVER won anything...no titles...and why NO MAJOR CONFERENCE will EVER want them....

i have no interest in promoting anything concerning Memphis / tiger high but Rickyvol77's post requires a serious history lesson
These records speak for themselves because the NCAA results are irrespective of conference affiliation.
you are correct tiger high never WON the Tournament but there is little comparison given their record of 2 championship games, 4 Final Fours and 6 Elite 8's
Tiger High NCAA Tournament History (26 appearances/34-26 record)
• 1973, 2008 Finalist
• 1973, 1985, 2008 Final Four
• Four Final Fours (1957, 2001, 2002, 2005)
• Six Elite Eights (1973, 1985, 1992, 2006, 2007, 2008)
• 11 Sweet 16s (1973, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1992, 1995, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009

TENNESSEE NCAA TOURNAMENT HISTORY
Tournament Appearances: 20
Final Fours: 0
Championships: 0
Win-Loss: 19-21

Try to avoid putting down a team with a far superior record in the only tournament of record in the sport of college basketball
It is not a good look

The reply to Rickyvol77 applies here as well JettVol
Tiger High's basketball history if far superior to Washington
Washington Huskies
Tournament Appearances: 16
Final Fours: 1
Championships: 0
Win-Loss: 18-17

The most important thing in college basketball is NCAA Tournament performance and Memphis has been a factor in far more NCAAs than either UT or Washington.
But if you want to compare records aside from the NCAA consider that Tennessee is #40 on this list where Memphis is #9 and Washington is not in the top 50

Hope he stays long enough to tie the great P.S. in wins in the championship game of 2028. Then retires.

Tigger High isnt even in the top 50 alltime wins in Division 1-A
And that's playing in weak mid-major conferences thru the years

List of teams with the most victories in NCAA Division I men's college basketball - Wikipedia
also Tennessee has been to more NCAA tourneys than Memphis and owns them head to head all time..playing in a much tougher conference

Tennessee has 1656 Victories in 110 seasons 15 wins per season average
Tiger High has 1298 Victories in 64 seasons 20 wins per season average

Sorry but Tiger High's men's basketball record speaks for itself - Given their mid-major status their NCAA tournament record is impressive
The NCAA tournament began in 1939 - 80 years ago
Tiger High only has 64 seasons - 16 less than UT - as tournament eligible
Given the records Tiger High has the more impressive record in large part due to their mid-major status
