Lane Kiffin is in charge of his program. He is not Phillip Fulmer with multiple failed drug tests for idiots who know that the drug tests are coming.
Lane Kiffin ran some kids off because they would not do what they were told and some because they were lazy, but he does not have to worry about some of the mistakes Fulmer was dealing with.
At the low point we had KPD pulling over players and recruits on a recruiting trip who were blazing...
If you do not realize that sometimes when there is an incident in Knoxville with a football player, especially a starter that would normally warrant police action but that is overlooked you are kidding yourself.
Lane Kiffin runs a tight ship and he keeps things internal. When a kid misses class, when a kid gets in a fight, when a kid does something stupid, Kiffin is not going to discuss it with the media. He is going to deal with it internally unless there is a public record (arrest) and discussion is necessary.
Janzen has a father figure, and not just an occasionally interested man, but a coach who loves him and who has poured himself into him. He is at a critical juncture like James Banks, he can move forward or he can forfeit NFL millions after collegiate stardom so he can pose as someone "hard." I feel confident he is going to head in the right direction now. If you want locations and details you can PM me but suffice it to say that it is best if we as fans treat disciplinary issues like Kiffin does.
This is completely made up, but if Seantrel Henderson came into town and ended up at Mouse's Ear South getting into a fight after he and his buddy a current TN player "made it rain" it would be bad for our program for details to come out. It is much better if the player involved is suspended and Kiffin says he violated team rules.
With 100 young men aged 17-23 in a program, you will always have problems. Out of wedlock impregnation, weed smoked, underage drinking and drunking etc. This happens to saints like Mark Richt and guys like the coaching staff here who says in interviews that they are not angels and they do not recruit angels. The best way to handle it is to not embarrass the young man or his family by spreading the wild stories that get even wilder the more they are retold.
I think the discipline Kiffin has brought and the way he dispenses with it is just another thing like his recruiting and coaching where he exceeds the example of Phillip Fulmer.

I see you're new here. You'll figure it out soon enough.Geez people. Why everybody gotta jump on MikeHamiltonFan? The point of the post is to point out that this coaching staff handles discipline differently than the last staff. And it is true. I was pretty big Fulmer fan, but the off season arrests over the past few years turned me. I think one of Kiffin's biggest accomplishments so far is the lack of off the field problems *knocks on wood*
