Bandwagon fans in TN

It's sad here and makes me so angry a lot of times. I always try to make a point of asking people who are alabama fans if they are from alabama or have family there, and almost always they aren't/don't, and I always say, "ok, that's kind of what I figured,"

You do realize that by the same token anyone not born in Tennessee or has family from Tennessee but are Vol fans are, by your statement bandwagon fans?

If that person has zero connection to the school or the state whatsoever, yes, they are a bandwagon fan.

Gotta admit, its tough wearing orange to work going into tomorrow...but I'm old enough to remember manning but not so old that I remember majors that well... the problem is easy...there are a ton of BW fans that aren't actually fans off even football.. If Vandy got good (I know right?) then I'm sure Mid Tenn would be covered in black and gold...When Saban is gone and Bama is going down...they will abandon like the always do.

On the tv a few weeks ago they were interviewing some guy that worked at a restaurant in Maryville. They spoke to one of the ladies who worked there because she was wearing a Bama shirt. They asked her if she was from Alabama, and of course, she said no. They asked her if she had family there, and she also said no, and that she was born and raised in Maryville. When they asked her why she was a Bama fan she said, "Well, who always wins when TN plays AL"? That made me sick, and I don't think I would ever eat at that restaurant, and if I did, I would have to :gun:that lady. I know she has a right to like whoever she wants, but bandwagon fans just make me

I grew up in the Nashville area, and I know more bandwagon fans than I'd like to admit.(Mostly Bama and Gators, and 2 Auburn BW jumpers) Does East TN have this same problem, or are people more loyal to the Vols the closer you get to Knoxville? Has anyone lived in both areas? I just know that this week my Facebook is blowing up with R-ll T-de posts. Where the hell were all these Bama fans 10-15 years ago? I don't remember seeing much Crimson in high school! My main point is just to ask if love of the Vols fades the further West you go....for instance, all the Memphis kids that sign with Ole Miss.

Oh yeah, BEAT BAMA

Not many people are hating on the Vols just the coaches

All you got to do is go to walmart before a game all you see is a lot of orange after we lose im the only one in the store with a tennessee cap on.

I'm glad you said that and not me. I live just outside of Nashville and have a lot of UT fans as friends and I'm always kidding them about UT fans. Before the season you see orange everywhere but lose a game or two and the orange disappears, for the most part. I'm sure it's the same at almost every school. I'm for any fan that is a true fan regardless of who his school is, yes even Vandy. I wore my Crimson during the Dubose, Shula and Price years just like I do now and my UT friends still wear their orange today like they did in the 90's. That's what real fans do IMO. Let's hope for a safe game tomorrow.

I spoke to a high school senior wearing Gator paraphernalia at a local Drive In. She was born and raised in Bradley county Tennessee, as were parents and grandparents. Had no connections to Florida, but was a Gator fan.

Basically it came down to being influenced by bandwaggoners at her high school. Sad. Sad. Sad.

Sheepishly pathetic is the better way to put it.

It is still mostly orange in the tri-cities usually multi generations, but it's gettin worse. Don't worry though they will be back. The younger generation has no backbone.

That is an extremely generalized and ignorant statement. No matter the generation there are all types of people so stop trying to spray this bs of "the younger generations are x"

Hmmm....I think you just made yourself an example of a "the younger generations are x" statement.

I always try to make a point of asking people who are alabama fans if they are from alabama or have family there, and almost always they aren't/don't, and I always say, "ok, that's kind of what I figured," it's funny cause they don't like that. But what makes me the most angry is when I'm out in public and talk to girls, and they tell me they are Bama fans. But, I've got a stash of garbage bags I keep consistently stocked up in my car, that I have to have, because how often these bandwagon bama fans make me vomit. Buck Fama!! GBO!!!

So if you don't live in the state or have family members in Alabama you can't be a Bama fan...........
