I grew up in the Nashville area, and I know more bandwagon fans than I'd like to admit.(Mostly Bama and Gators, and 2 Auburn BW jumpers) Does East TN have this same problem, or are people more loyal to the Vols the closer you get to Knoxville? Has anyone lived in both areas? I just know that this week my Facebook is blowing up with R-ll T-de posts. Where the hell were all these Bama fans 10-15 years ago? I don't remember seeing much Crimson in high school! My main point is just to ask if love of the Vols fades the further West you go....for instance, all the Memphis kids that sign with Ole Miss.

Oh yeah, BEAT BAMA

I grew up in West Tennessee and more people I knew growing up were not Vol fans, they were Bama, Ole Miss, Memphis State (dating myself), and of course some Vols but it wasnt like here in Knoxville.

Funny I was actually registered at Ole Miss before coming to UT for my brothers fraternities "Carnicus" thing, and loved it so much I withdrew my registration from Ole Miss and attended UT.

It's sad here and makes me so angry a lot of times. I always try to make a point of asking people who are alabama fans if they are from alabama or have family there, and almost always they aren't/don't, and I always say, "ok, that's kind of what I figured," it's funny cause they don't like that. But what makes me the most angry is when I'm out in public and talk to girls, and they tell me they are Bama fans. But, I've got a stash of garbage bags I keep consistently stocked up in my car, that I have to have, because how often these bandwagon bama fans make me vomit. Buck Fama!! GBO!!!

I go to UT and you'd be amazed how many people are from knoxville, never been to Alabama, have no ties to Alabama but have magically been alabama fans for around 4 or so years.

It is still mostly orange in the tri-cities usually multi generations, but it's gettin worse. Don't worry though they will be back. The younger generation has no backbone.

I spoke to a high school senior wearing Gator paraphernalia at a local Drive In. She was born and raised in Bradley county Tennessee, as were parents and grandparents. Had no connections to Florida, but was a Gator fan.

Basically it came down to being influenced by bandwaggoners at her high school. Sad. Sad. Sad.

This thread reminds me of all the LSU "fans" there are around here. Don't remember seeing or hearing about LSU much when they were coming to the Independence Bowl every year. Same thing with Saints "fans". You never heard a "Who dat" or seen so much Saints garbage until they actually started winning. Now they are EVERYWHERE!!! It makes me sick b/c half of them don't know crap about football. Guess BANDWAGONS are everywhere, just sucks I have to deal with 2 of the worst down here in LSWhoville.

YES!!! Why are all the women suddenly Bama fans? Most of the Facebook posts I'm talking about are girls! Particularly one group of friends that all tag each other in Bama pics all the time. Guess they watched the 2009-2010 BCS title game and picked their team based on who won.

Anyone not wearing Orange in East Tennessee is either 1.) Communist 2.) Not from Tennessee or 3.) Attempting to be an individual..to stand out from the crowd, to be a douchebag.

Grew up in Jackson, TN, and most I knew were UT fans. Obviously there was an oddball here and there, but orange was the color sported by most between Jackson and the TN River. Now, once you got west of Jackson everything changed.

I live in Memphis now, and it's all over the board. I'm sure there are plenty of bandwagon Bama, FL, LSU and Auburn fans around Jackson now too, but it still appears to be more owned by UT.

In southeast Tennessee (Chattanooga) a lot have jumped to the Bama and Dawg wagon. Never saw a lot of Bammers in the 90's. only recently seeing more Georgia stuff. A major radio station here carries all Georgia football games.

Is there such thing as treason against your state?

Just don't really get it. It seems like people have said on here already that people watch and a game and if that teams wins they "suddenly" become their biggest fan, prolly knowing nothing about the sport usually. That's just turrible

I rarely use facebook, I doubt I would have a facebook account if I saw all the Roll Tide crap. All those girls for the VAST majority know nothing about bama football or really even football in general, they do it cause they think guys will be more attracted to them. If I'm interested in a girl and we are hitting it off pretty well, and she isn't obviously displaying she's a bama "fan," it's as big of a red flag as a girl who has 7 kids by 7 guys and has been in jail for assault/battery, I bail out and then go to my car to throw up.
