1. Our defense can keep it close, if no turnovers, and we shore up kick coverage. They will keep this game close if those things happen.

2. Run, Hardesty, run! (I'm out early predicting 150 yards).

3. Great offensive gameplan (run the clock, limit turnovers, screens and draws, field position).

I think if we execute, it will be close in the fourth quarter. Then, it will be up to the team with the most playmakers or the best championship mentality. We have a real chance to knock-off Bama, if we can play mistake free (doesn't have to be stellar, just mistake free) offense and special teams. I know it's true of any game, but worth repeating here.

We can't have the bye week blues. Got to come out razor sharp on the road.

I say we pound it up the middle until they have to contribute DBs to stopping the run. Once we can keep them honest, it will free up outside pressure for Crompton to get going on PA rollouts and bootlegs.
If we can't get him on the move, it'll be a tough day.

we wont beat bama this year. I just dont see it happening

If we limit mistakes (i.e. we made way too many against GA with penalties, pick 6, ST), the game will be closer than Bama and the Bama Herd will like in the fourth. That could get their undefeated nerves ajumpin'.....

Whether we can pull off the upset in Tuscaloosa though...... but the opportunity, I think, will be there.

Bye week - perfect opportunity to practice what you did wrong in the last game / perfect what you did right.

Mount Cody outweighs Sullins by 100lbs, going up the middle will not be easy. Use Bama strengths against them with misdirections, traps and screens. When they are playing close to the line we need to take a shot at going deep on them. Bama has played some good defense against some decent offensive teams and still rank 2nd in the country. CLK will have to be creative at times and at others take what the defense gives us.

So we do something that no team has done because of big fat Terrance Cody down there at nose tackle?? If we are going to run, it will be off tackle or on some cut backs. Bama's defense is more physical and more disciplined than Florida's. Crompton HAS to have a great day for the game to be close in the fourth. I just don't see that against their defense.

There are some physical match up problems that will be difficult to overcome. It is going to be a tall order not to just get pushed up and down the field. We HAVE to win the special teams battle or we won't even have a chance.

I would like to see CLK start the first snap with JC pretending to walk towards the sidelines like he cannot hear the play called and direct snap it to Hardesty. The Bama defense would not be set and it could go for positive yardage.

Now you just gave away our element of surprise. We have to come up with another trick play now. Geez.:wink2:

Exactly. You can't run up the middle with T. Cody in the line. However this lardbutt is too slow to sack the QB. Look for Kiffin/Chaney to use some no huddle so Bama can't substitute for Cody in passing situations. I also look for us to get the ball to Nu'keese out in space to out quick their large linebackers.

I expect they'll roll Crompton a lot again. Get Cody chasing and wear him out hopefully. His backup is no slouch though. Those inside runs won't be there as much in this game. They'll have to take what is given, you can't force anything against that defense.

I don't know that the UF gameplan is the one to use against Bama. Slowing the game down and keeping it close going into the 4th quarter is playing right into their style of game, and no matter what gameplan Monte comes up with, their size and depth is going to wear us out in the 4th quarter if they can just keep pounding it.

It goes without saying, but we can't have any screw ups in special teams. I thought our KO coverage was fairly adequate after the first return by Boykins, what scares me more is that we don't seem to have anyone that can field a punt, much less make some noise with a return.

Offensively, we'll have to get creative, and thank God we have two weeks to work something up. The previous posters have been right that running up the middle is a fools errand with Sullins going against Cody, remember how well that worked against that big #92 on UCLA? More plays like the toss sweep to Nukeese from the empty backfield are going to be in order, and we will have to keep the threat of the running game alive, can't get one-dimensional. Also, there is no way the bootlegs will be as open all day long like they were against UGA. Bama will be ready for those.

I actually have some small hope of winning this game, where I had absolutely none before last week, but make no mistake, it is going to be an extremely tall order, and I think the best we can realistically hope for is to get another "moral victory" like we did against UF. If this team fights hard for all four quarters and show that it belongs on the same field as Bama (unlike the last two years), then it will be yet another side that this program is on the rise.

I think we are at a huge disadvantage against the 3-4 defense. Their linebackers will be able to react to the ball and drop back into coverage if necessary. The way they stunt their linebackers on blitzes is really doing a great job. Reminds me of the Steelers. Our O line is going to have to be EXTREMELY disciplined in their blocking.

They have a good scheme and they're disciplined. They tackle well and i'm not sure there are any holes in there anywhere. TE is usually a favorable matchup, they'll need a big game from Stocker and the running backs. They'll also have to block these guys, no one has to this point.

Smartest observation yet. This Bama defense focuses on the run first.

This game, more than any other, will require JC to set up the run by completing passes. I think this is the worse time for an off-week. JC was hot this past Saturday and an off-week may not be helpful to JC in that regard.

Still, given the type of offense Bama runs, the defense will keep this game close.

He played well Saturday. Bama will make him beat them though. Hardesty runs hard, so if he can get enough yards to at least keep them honest we can move the ball. Not giving them cheap turnovers with fumbles or bad decision making by the QB will determine if we have a chance or not. This is the game that game management has to be just that.

This one will be tough. I'm a fan and I have some hope that we will win - Bama has started slow this year, and so we should be in the game late in the first half. The challenge will be staying there until late in the second half. We shouldn't be out coached - which will be a welcome change, but after that it comes down to the Jimmy's & the Joes - And Saban has had two years head start on us. Should be a low scoring game - Saban vs. Monte - What a concept. I can't wait!

Tennessee can win this game if the Titans show up instead of the Vols. Maybe!

You have not watched the Titans this year, have you? I like our chances better with the Vol's. Now get off of your sister, put down the Natty Light and step away from the computer before you hurt yourself.

We will not be outcoached. CLK has seen the 3-4 multiple times and CMK will out scheme anything that Bammer throws at us. The problem is can we execute, do we have the players to run CLKs gameplan? Also, I believe CMK has not shown his whole defensive hand. Expect new blitz packages (run and pass) to try and disrupt McElroy.
