This book might help you (though I haven't read it)

Amazon.com: Third Saturday in October: The Game-By-Game Story of the South's Most Intense Football Rivalry: Books: Al Browning

On November 18, 1901, the University of Alabama and the University of Tennessee first locked horns on a football field. At the contest's end, the score was tied, nothing had been resolved, and about two thousand fans were on the field at Tuscaloosa, fighting.

Oh yeah, and there's the fact that :bammer:

A long history and the fact that if Bama is among the nation's elite, Tennessee is usually down. If Tennessee is considered among the elite, Bama is usually down.

Add to the fact that Bama has a long history of probations etc and that the majority of Bama fans hate Tennessee, you can see where the hostility comes from.

I hate Bama and everything they stand for.

Bam's cheating started long before the Means thing and everyone of their 1000 Titles is tarnished by their corruption.

If the mob had a team it would be Bama

...#1 Bear Bryant is not GOD, contrary to the bama faithful view (which has worn thin on VOL fans for years, at least this one)

...#2 bama for far too long 60's, 70,s, and 80,s ruled the roost, another sore point for many of us, especially fans of the VOLS pre 90's.

Oh yeah, to make matters worse saban.

I for one despise bama and look forward to 10/25/08 A DAY OF REDEMPTION :the_finger:bama, but don;t take this personal

With me it started with their bandwagon "fans". I grew up in Chattanooga and it always bothered me that there were so many Bama "fans" in Nooga. Chattanooga is just north of the Ga and Bama lines so there were a lot of people from Bama there but many Bama fans in Nooga in the 80's liked them because they were winning. They didn't know anything about them except the Bear and the hundreds of national champs.

I have lived in all regions of the country and can tell you that everybody that has encountered a Bammer has found him to be an anoying ahole. They live in pure fantasy and delusion.

Then I learned the history of the two programs, they are the 2 most winning in the south. Bryant hated TN because he could not beat Neyland. When you are the two biggest guys on the block there is going to be some tension.

I went to UT and went to many UT/UA games and started to hate them even more.

If you are one of those that likes Bama for some idea of romantic glory, the more you find out about them the more you will see that they are arrogant jerks.

I agree theres nothing more annoying than a bama fan. You would think after all the talking this postseason that they won the national title but no they went 7-6. If there is one game that I want to win it is against them. The inbredness is getting worse every year down there and you can see it when you talk to them.

The hatred from a Bama fan's point of view is based solely on UT fans think they're perfect in everything they do...nothing is more annoying, so we Bama fans call UT the Beacon on the Hill...they are the beacon of spick and span perfect. Or so UT fans will lead you to believe anyway.

Oh yeah and the other reason is because alot of Bama fans blame Coach Fulmer for our latest probation stint.

But, like what was already said when you're the two winningest programs in the south you're bound to hate each other.

I went to school at UA and the hatred is bad, but not as made for the most part that fans have for Aubum.

Here's my opinion, grasshopper. If you have ever been to a Tennessee/Alabama game the electricity and anticipation is overwhelming due to the extended winning/losing streaks on both sides. When your hated rival wins 6 or 8 or 10 games against you or you do the same to them, the hatred will grow to monumental proportions after hearing it from the other side. One night I went to my bowling league on Sunday night and a fellow bowler (a stinkin' Bama fan) was wearing a t shirt that said "we own Tennessee" after one of their wins in a string of wins for them. That tends to make you hate your rival a little more.

For me it began with our inability to beat Bama in the 70's.

It has been sustained due to the attitude of the more prevalent type Bama fan - they are great, they have "tra-di-shun", they never do any wrong yet get punished, they are the "whipping boy" of the SEC, everyone is out to get them.

And the #1 reason - these fans refuse to acknowledge another team may have beat them simply because they are a better team. It's always some excuse or reason. It is poor sportsmanship personified. They never acknowledge that when they were racking up wins, those teams they beat may have been suffering the same problems they now claim.

Back in day Bryant Bama use to dominate us (or outcoach us rather), but we did beat him the last game we played against him. Those domination days are far removed, even more when we "put a hurtin" on you guys in K Town this season.

If you are under the age of about 20, you have no recollection of a time when Bama owned us.

To me the word Alabama is a synonym for "sister-kissing retard". Bammers are the trailer trash of college football. When you go to a UT-Bammer game, seeing the Bammers out of their element is quite the experience. Its like going to the circus. You will see bearded women, men married to 12 year olds, and beer guzzling wife beaters just to mention a few. Also all Bammers are good bowlers.

Bammers always have an inflated view of theirselves as well. After a horrible season last year, if you talk to a Bammer, you would think they just won the NC. They forget all the losses and fall back on their laurels. Bammers believe in ghosts (ie. Bear) and still believe that he will come back. They also worship false idols (saban) and think that this person actually gives a rip about their program. I could go on more but that sums it up.

PLEASE.....I can't handle the flashbacks. What a horrible time. Remember when we had them beat finally in 93', then Palmer took in the 2pt conversion. :blush2: That was a tie that felt like another loss to the Bammers.:censored:
