I'm having a discussion with another UT fan about witch is the bigger rival. He says UF has over taken Bama. Which is the bigger rival to you?

Bama for me.

Florida is no doubt a bigger game, but the biggest rival will always be the University of Alabama.

I've been reading this board for about a year now and posting for a few months and this seems to be the most often asked question. It seems with older fans it's Bama and with younger ones it's Florida. It seems that with Spurrier and Florida's rise came Bama's TWO probations and decline. Here's to us again becoming all Vol fans undisputed and most hated rival.

The Tide/Vols rivalry is underrated nationally. Much of the focus is put on the Iron Bowl, Ohio St/Michigan, FSU/Florida... but in my opinion, the "Third Saturday in October" is equally as big. I'll be honest, I hate Tennessee... and lets be honest, most of you hate Alabama. That's what makes this game great.

The Alabama vs Tennessee matchup is much more exciting to me than the Auburn game. I love it.

Same way I feel. I get more nervous, have more a ton more desire to beat UT than I do Auburn. The Third Saturday in October is a special day. Unfortunatly, I will have to listen to alot of the game on the radio due to my sons little league team making the playoffs. There playoff game is at 4:00 CDT. I should catch almost all of the first half at the house, then the conclusion on the radio. By listening to all the UT fans, I probably wont want to watch the rest of it anyway....haha

I'm 26, so i say florida.
However, I realize that older UT fans will always say bama...and I have no beef with that. I think that once a team gets solidified in your brain as the biggest rival, it is difficult to undo that process.

When you have hate and respect then you have a great rivalry.

Maybe that is the key. I have more respect for Bama, although that has diminished over the last few years with the "Hey, you turned us in for cheating so we're suing you," ordeal.

I have more hatred for Florida.

So I guess Bama is the bigger rival because I have more hatred and respect combined for them.

That made my head hurt:crazy:

the florida game is big because they are in our division and that game is almost a must win to go to the sec cg. if fla wasnt in our div. or wasnt any good we wouldnt hate them nearly as much. however, bama has always, and will always be hated no matter what.

and i second the wincrimson's notion that the 3rd saturday in october is underrated on a national level. but what can you expect from a bunch ignorant a-holes who think bar-b-q is anything cooked over an open flame?

Im not an "older" fan. My first year at UT was 2000. So for me I hate Florida more.

Another reason...I went to the UT-Bama game in 2001. Bama fans were nice to me on their "Strip". They were cool talking to me in line for liquor about how they would take a 1-10 season if that one win was Auburn. And at the actual game, the Bama fans let me cut in the concession line because, as one guy said "youre the visitor". Its actually the nicest experience Ive had at an away game.

Im sure I got lucky and there are a-hole Bama fans, but I didnt encounter any, so in my book I like them...FAR more respectful then the Uga fans Ive met in Athens.

OSU Michigan is by far the biggest.

After that I would say Iron bowl and we are somewhere after that.

Let's settle this once and for all. Florida is our biggest game. Almost every year the SEC east comes down to the winner of this game. It always seems to determin how successful our season is. I wish we could play them later in the year. And over the last few years the gator fans have become more vocal and annoying. BUT!!!!! I hate Bama. Bama is and always will be our biggest rival. I hate them to the point that I get mad just thinking about it. I live in this God Forsaken state of Alabama. I have to listen to these inbred, toothless, dead bear loving, cheating, lying, crack heads every day of my life. I hate the color Crimson and any shade of red. I hate elephants. I hate BAMA. I was born and raised in God's Country. (East Tennessee) and was sent to this hole some twenty years ago due to my work. I remember the 12 Year streak they put on us and how they would paint the score on every overpass from Knoxville to B-ham. I was a senior in high School (1982) the first time I seen the Vols beat Bama. I Cried and vowed that I would hate BAMA with all my being till the day I die or until the NCAA shuts down the cheating inbreds. I hate BAMA. Anyone who thinks there is any rival any bigger than BAMA needs to spend some quality time in this state and understand how they think about Tennessee. These are the most football stupid people on the planet. According to them football wouldn't exist if it were not for alabama and the bear. Looks like to me it has made it just fine without either of them the last 20 years. I am so mad right now I can not express my true feelings. I HATE BAMA.

just go to the espn's tennessee message board sometime this week if you have any questions about bama's attitude toward us and the rest of college football.

Have to go with Bama. Truly a team to hate if your a Vol fan. I have no respect for Florida period! I did respect Spurrier when he was there. It was nice to see a coach just rip the jugular out of an opponent even though they were dead. I hated watching him beating the hell out of his early season opponents and knowing there would be nothing we could do to stop them with our conservative offense. Nice game last week C. Leak, keep it up.

And another thing, I am tired of reading the local paper and listening to the local talk radio here in bama and hear them whine about how CPF caused there problems. The fact that they have bought and paid for their teams for years is not a problem to these inbreds. The only thing CPF has done to bama is whip there butts 10 out of 12 times. I HATE BAMA!!!! I hope we hang half a hundred on them Saturday.

Just curious, Is your son playing fall baseball? They've tried it around here but it doesn't get a lot of support. Anyhow, good luck to your son's team. Sorry, I can't say the same for your football team except to say I hope nobody on either team gets hurt.
I vote for 'Bama as the team we most want to beat. Next is a tie between Florida and Vandy. For some reason a loss to them damn Dawgs doesn't bother me nearly as much as a loss to either of the other three.

That's great to hear. Being an old fan of the Big Orange I have grown tired of the UT/Bama rivalry always being put into the backseat of the Iron Bowl. You, sir, have made my day!!!!:yahoo:

Hands down Bama... While I do agree with everyone saying Fla is a bigger game, Bama is a bigger rival. Fla is a bigger game because they're in the east with us and have just been a much better team then Bama in the past decade and a half... but go past that, deep into the hate, and you find that dingy red crimson...
