Bama NCAA Violations

Well congrats, I guess that makes ya'll better. LOL

It's the nature of big time college athletics. There are players paid cash money, given "escorts" on recruiting trips, grades get changed, etc.

However, only the one's who make this a habit are the one's who eventually get caught.

How long have you been a Bama fan? They blamed Fulmer and the NCAA for conspiring to destroy the program. They blame the media, the North, etc. It is the very history of Alabama to believe the rest of the world is out to get them. Oddly enough, the world does this out of jealousy because Bama is so good

I've been a bama fan since I can remember, got old enough to really follow it around 1995. Yea, there are fans that blame fulmer, but they are just uneducated on what happened, same as ya'll are on the current situation. They, as you are now, are just going off what someone told them, but not what actually happened.

What actually happened; or did you post that earlier in the thread?

Recent head trauma? Just kidding!

In effect aren't we all just going by what someone has told us? Are the investigations into the matter completed or are they still ongoing?

unless he is a player/coach wouldn't it just be what someone told him? And wouldn't that, by his own rules, make it useless info?

Dang PJ; you are a thread killer this morning. You put Martin in his place regarding Briscoe and his comments (he/she spent 15 minutes crafting a response before leaving the board in shame) and now this and silence from our Bama friend.

I did leave it open so if he is in fact Nick Saban then I will listen.

I interrupt your regularly scheduled posting to bring you this public service announcement - Bama sucks, hard.

Thank you, you may carry on now.

Ya'll do realize that Alabama has only been sanctioned by the NCAA twice in history for recruiting violations. Tennesse has been sanctioned once for recruiting violations that I know of. I'm just not sure how you can consider it a big part of our history, and not consider it part of yours.

I have a good friend that is the head baseball coach at the high school Mike Bowmen the wide out that signed with Bama from north GA. I talked to him the other day and he told me that he was mike's special ed teacher and he got a phone call from coach saben and he asked him what he made on the act to see if he was qualified to read the test to mike. Is that not breaking the NCAA rules i dont know so that just seemed weird to me and sound like cheting to me.

Before the NCAA kept a tight watch on the member universities players were paid to come and play for the university. It is accepted fact by those in the know at Bama at the time, and by everyone else except Bama fans. Bryant's run was great when there but this is also the same time period that the money was flowing freely to players.

All of this will be a moot point when we beat the tar out of yall in Tuscaloosa this year. Again.

It will be funny when your team goes on probation, loses scholarships, maybe lose some TV appearances, possible post season play sanctions, and Saban leaves in time to miss all of this and leave you high and dry looking for a coach to come in and pick up the pieces.

I posted about it a bit earlier in this thread, but here's what happened. I don't know how long it has been since ya'll were in college or if you ever were (not a knock), but the way they give out money to scholarship students for textbooks at most universities is by giving them an amount of money on a card that works at the bookstore. The student then takes the card to the bookstore, tells them what classes they are taking, the clerk then gathers the materials and charges it to the card.

What happened in Bama's situation is two things. One, some student athletes got some additional studying materials by mistake. Alot of times there are things that are recommended materials but not required such as study guides, etc. These were given to the players, but the NCAA only allows required materials to be paid for by scholarship. The second thing that happened was that some players used there scholarship money to by books for friends and gfs.

There was no indications that the books were sold for profit, all the money was repaid, and the staff reportedly had no knowledge of this happening until a bookstore clerk reported some strange transactions. At that point, the players were immediately suspended, the university reported the infraction to the NCAA, and immediately put something in place to stop it from happening again.

Because there wasn't anything in place before it was considered a failure to monitor, and by definition that is a major ncaa violation resulting in the investigation inquiry. They met in February of this year for with the NCAA for the hearing after receiving a letter last May of the investigation.

In effect aren't we all just going by what someone has told us? Are the investigations into the matter completed or are they still ongoing?

There has been no other investigation other than the textbook situation reported and at this point the investigation is over and they are deciding on the punishment, if any. The verdict should be coming out in a couple of weeks. Most believe there will be an extension of the probation period due to the fact the violations occurred while on probation and probably the loss of a 2 to 4 scholarships spread out over the next few years.

However, the violations not only included football players, but women's track and swimming too I believe. So, there is no real way of knowing which players did what at this time, and therefore no way of knowing which sports will be penalized for what.

Rumors of paying players, dodge chargers, recruiting violations, etc have all sprung from a post on an auburn message board and some prank posts about Operation Red Dog. I'll post links to all this later tonight, got to go to work now.

Why are you on another teams board taking up for your team. I don't care! What a life you must have!

I know it's great, I make plenty of money and have a lot of free time to goof off at work. Gov't jobs are great.

Nope. These issues were dealt with a couple of years ago internally. I guess the NZAA felt like they needed to review it. The program is clean. Sorry to ruin your day VOL fans!

The Day bammer is clean is the day hell freezes over!

Just my guess......

"Many Alabama fans can't let the hatred go. In their minds, Fulmer is the primary reason Alabama received NCAA sanction."

Sports: In Alabama, Fulmer public enemy No. 1
Everyone of these azzholes would have turned Fulmer in if he had been buying the best players in alabama!!! They want to whine and cry about Fulmer turning them in, Instead of admiting they were cheating!!!! :flush:

For the sake of argument, lets say this is true. Still, given recent history, how can Alabama allow this to happen? Its mind numbing.

We just didn't have the forsight to cut some kind of deal with the NCAA like your big boy did.

Lang testified that Tennessee, Georgia, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Alabama, Michigan State and Kentucky all offered or paid money for Means.

Quite the vendetta for Bama when they decided not to investigate anyone else after that was brought out in a court of law.
