At any rate, I was trying to start a thread about awesome tradition and Southern football. It seems bitterness and the sad-sacks I mentioned seem hell-bent on putting it down.

I'm not so sure I care anymore. Bama vs A&M in October? It could work. I came in here humble and full of respect. I guess I'm older and value the rivalry a bit more than today's Vol.

It's easy to be humble and full of respect when you know you are going to take us to the woodshed.

I like Bama except when they play UT... Why is that so hard for some of you to believe or understand? Please spare me the "you're not a 'true fan' if you like Bama" or any other team 'true' Vol fans should hate....

I was going to post this as a response to another thread, but many of you guys are the biggest sad-sacks I have ever seen.

We are looking forward to a true Southern tradition. All bets are off. Do I think/hope Alabama will win? Absolutely. Am I confident of a win? No way. This is a rivalry that deserves respect, and has always (for the most part) been classy. You younguns probably hate Florida or some other team more, but this rivalry has always made my year as a fan.

Both teams start at zero on Saturday. I hope both teams are honored to play in this traditioned rivalry.

I don't gamble, but if I did I'd take the points. This game will be (IMHO) closer than stats would dictate.

Bama Harv though its hard to rationalize a Bama/Vol fan. I do agree with you that this is one of the most exciting games to look forward to for many years.Unfortunately as much as i would like to think it being competitive it just doesn't seem realistic this year. And i apologize to the "kids" who act "childish" in here sometimes, but sometimes that just shows their passion for Big Orange Nation.

Bama wants #1 spot and will do anything to get there my prediction for the game is 44-7 we give you no problem on offense and d we stick with you for 1 quarter

Why do they have to prove that against us. LSU and Bama play each other in two weeks. That will settle it

The biggest difference in UT/LSU, Bama games will be in rushing, IMHO. Bama is goind to pound the rock and try to own the clock. And no one's stopped them yet. UT's rushing D has looked pretty good at times this season. With more depth I'd say this game could be a "spread beater". But I think UT's D tires before half and it could get ugly. I'm pretty sure no program in the country would want your middle of the season schedule.

The good news is that UT has a decent chance of winning out, with the exception of the Arkansas game. I think you're going to see some battle-hardened, pissed off Vols against USCE, and I think you match up well against them. A little momentum and who knows, you might even run the table.

Yeah I remember you on the Bama board back in the years when UT spanked Bama every year you said you were a a Vol Fan 1st (as you guys love to label VOL fans). I'm also a Bamer, as a fan. Yes, that's possible.

I'm a UT grad who's now in Bama grad school. But there's no split in my loyalty. UT all the way -- I even wear my orange around campus and will at the game Saturday!!
