Bama Fans DO think

Your Mother's aversion to spanking makes me wonder why you are such an effeminate poster. I never once thought she'd take it out on the kids...

Furthermore, you've shown that lurking is the best thing you can do. Better to keep your opinion to yourself and be thought of as a fool, than to let it be known and remove all doubt.

I know this guy is doing the right thing by extending his hand in sportsmanship but there shouldn't be any talk of rivalry or "anything can happen" on this thread. Bama has owned it for 5 years now and things aren't about to change just because this game used to be a rivalry. Alabama is going to impose their will on both sides of the ball against a young Tennessee team that is without its best players. As a die-hard Vol fan, I will be watching every second because that's what true fans do. However, the bottom line is it's going to be an embarrassment.

Ok. I'll return to lurking, and it's all been because of your masterful dominance of all things Vol.

If you guys are the welcoming committee, I think opposing teams have an advantage. I came in as a fan who happens to be a "bammer".

Don't be an idiot. There are plenty of other posters who pull for other teams that don't get the same barbs you do. Your level of stupidity transcends any and all other issues.

Very well. My stupidity was wishing good luck and suggesting the game was up for grabs (and it is).

You are just so butthurt as a fan you can't comprehend a bit of respect. That's fine. I wasn't being condescending. Read my original post.

Naw, it's still a good insult to juvenile posts. Do you have something more modern, or unique? At the end of the day, you are a dumbass, and life goes on. Would you like me to create a new insult, just for the likes of you? People on the internet ignore your ilk daily. Is there a unique point of idiocy you wish to attain?

:good!:

Fine. I thought there would be older Vol fans here that know what a true rivalry, and true respect is.

We're here....Do you remember that old referee--Jimmy Harper...or Hopp-uh...as he pronounced it?

He said that 'Bama-Auburn may get all the press--but the Vols vs 'Bama game was the biggest in the SEC!

Watch some of the clips on Youtube...He's the silver-haired, southern drawl talking ref....and a pretty good one, too...I don't even know if he's still alive....

I hate to admit this on here with some of these homers--but I grew up being a Bama fan because only Bama, Michigan, or Oklahoma games were televised on 3 channels!

BUT---BUT---BUT When I went to my first UT game in 1979--UT vs. Auburn--on a September day--I became and always will be a Vol Fan!!!!! We stomped the Tigers (Joe Cribbs and another little back, #20, that played in the NFL for the Chargers or the Bengals) something like 35-17....:salute:

I lurk VN all year long. I am a Bammer (as you guys love to label Crimson Tide fans). I'm also a Vol, as a fan. Yes, that's possible.

I was going to post this as a response to another thread, but many of you guys are the biggest sad-sacks I have ever seen.

We are looking forward to a true Southern tradition. All bets are off. Do I think/hope Alabama will win? Absolutely. Am I confident of a win? No way. This is a rivalry that deserves respect, and has always (for the most part) been classy. You younguns probably hate Florida or some other team more, but this rivalry has always made my year as a fan.

Both teams start at zero on Saturday. I hope both teams are honored to play in this traditioned rivalry.

I don't gamble, but if I did I'd take the points. This game will be (IMHO) closer than stats would dictate.

Good luck Vols, and Roll Tide. :hi:

I normally share your enthusiasm about this great rivalry but we literally have half a team. If we had a senior laden squad and depth with some kind of identity I would be excited about the tradition. However, we are dealing with perhaps the darkest days in TN football history. There is simply no way we can compete. Even if we didn't lose our 2 star players we would have no chance. Your red elephants will win in fashion similar to what LSU did to us. We may compete for a quarter or even a half but the elephants will score 35 points in the second half and we may score 10. bammer wins 45-10.

In the minds of most of the kids on here I would be considered a old fart and most of them know nothing of a tried and true rivalry like UT vs alaBubba.

IMHO the Tennessee / alaBummer game simply IS 1 of the best, greatest and longest lasting rivalries of all time despite which team is in a slump at the present moment.

This is the SEC and the besrt rivalry of all time in the SEC is our Vols against the fat elephants.

This is alaBubba week and I hate them but I want no serious injuries and a good, tough game.

I'll also NEVER admit defeat until the clock expires in the 4th quarter and my beloved Vols have less points.

We all know that the ONLY reasons that alaBummer has a recent National Championship IS because our FG kicker was so badly hurt that he couldn't get his foot higher than his knee on 2 missed FG's and because laMe kiffScum was too cowardly and ignorant to go for it and try to get another 1st down even though we WERE beating alaBubba all up and down the field in every stat there is except for the alaBummer luck of more points on the board.

I enjoy this rivalry and tradition and I pray for a miracle or 2 or more that my Vols will get the WIN and destroy the dreams of the alaBubba fans of another National Championship this year.

A UT WIN by only 1 point would make this a good season and prove that we're on the road back.

VFL...GO BIG ORANGE!!!

Butthurt? I knew what type of season this was going to be. I hang around these parts for the banter, and honestly for the chance to call out asinine stuff like you begging for respect. What puts it over the top is your pot shots about posters' mothers, then in the next post standing on a soapbox.

Allsome.

Missed this awesome true fan reference last night.

Speaking of "butthurt"... Be sure and come back on November 6 and tells us how that feels.

Really?

Ok. But there is such a thing as Eastern and Western divisions. Also, I don't think being a fan of two teams is such an odd thing. I was a fan of both before there WERE divisions.

I'm a Bama fan first and foremost though. I do however think you missed the point of my post.

Don't mind that conceited thing, it is possible to be a dual fan. I'm a Packer fan first and a Redskin fan second for example. I like the Colts when Peyton is playing but am not a true Colts fan. If the Colts are playing either of my preferred teams, I want Peyton to have a heck of a game but not win over the Pack or Skins. Otherwise, I'm all for the Colts to beat the life out of whoever else they play.

So, if no one else understands your preferred team choices, know that at least one Vol fan understands and even appreciates the fact a Bama can be a Vol. Know what? Back in the Condredge Holloway days, I recall Bama fans cheered him, wanting the Bama native to have a good game but cheering also for a Tide win. I think it was the time the Black fans had the chant of "Ugah, Ugah, wah, Bama's got Soul Power."

If you ask me (and whether you do or not) I think your outlook and those of the Holloway era fans outlook is what it really means to be a fan. So ignore the species Volus Rectus Cavtium people on this board.

I look at it this way:
LSU:38- UT 7
Bama wants #1 spot and will do anything to get there my prediction for the game is 44-7 we give you no problem on offense and d we stick with you for 1 quarter

I seriously doubt Saban plays such games, especially considering that Bama and LSU play down the road. If he did play this game, I think his strategy would be the opposite, i.e., don't run up the score (make it look closer than it is) to give LSU a sense of overconfidence when Bama and LSU meet. But again, I seriously doubt Saban gives a rip either way at this point.

Thank you BPV, but there was no condescension intended. This is my game of the year.

First time in my life I have been able to agree with a Bama fan, I started watchin Tn/Ala when I was a teenager, and Lord willing this saturday will be my 46th time.

I was sold on this game the first time I saw it, standing on the top of Neyland overlooking the river and Neyland Drive. The guy next to me looked down at the road as a funeral procession passed by, and took off his Tenn cap and placed it over his heart. I told him that I was impressed by his respectful act. "Lest I could do boy", he said "I was married to her for 40 years" :hi:

I thought I had heard all the old recycled jokes...that was pretty good! :good!:
