I see you guys were classmates.

In all seriousness... you're gonna learn when you grow up that communicating orally and in writing are extremely important for your future success.

It's very disheartening to see adults who cannot write and respond using very basic English comprehension. We don't need to be Shakespeare, but writing at an 8th grade level shouldn't be too much to ask for.
Don't get mad -- I'm just trying to reverse the stereotype of the "stupid American."

Come on, you know 8th graders have better writing skills that this guy don't you?

I looked on some forums of other SEC teams. It seems the ones that don't take the new coaching staff and the Volunteers seriously are the ones that are yet to play Tennessee this year.

What was funnier was seeing the vil’s faces when the kick was blocked. If you read all these post you would think that the vil’s had at least a winning record. UF sick, UA tired, what was AU’s problem and UCLA’s problem. Vil’s sucked last year, this year and will next year. There is a pattern that should continue as long as Lame in heading the program.

You must keep coming on other forums to try and get the last word in....why aren't you on the bammy forum singing the praises of your great team that couldn't score a TD on an unranked opponent? We know how many games we have lost....what was Saybear's record the first year? We were in a postion to win, but we didn't execute in all aspects of the game...simple conclusion. AU beat us and so did UCLA but AL didn't beat us...we beat ourselves and you know and I have heard MANY AL fans say the same thing...and they have also said they did not play like a #1 team! Why would you come on another forum? I never go on the bammy forum because I couldn't care less what they are saying or thinking. Come on and tell the truth, how could you see a Vols' face when you had your head between your legs? I understand why you hate TN, Fulmer had your number and now you are worried about Kiffin....it's ok, retain your delusions because that's what makes you a bammy!!! GO VOLS!!!

How do you know the op isn't from a foreign country? He could be Asian for instance. :nono:

That is just one possibly. Another that some posters on here may not consider that the poster may have a learning disability. Why hurt someone feelings? I am just saying let's stop being the grammar police and keep this a nice place to post for all. Also some are in a hurry and don't want to take the time to dot every i and cross every T. Let's keep the T capital as in UT.

And to you sir, I think at 51 I am almost grown now and in my writing I were trying to make a point about how ridicules some posters are about grammar. This IS NOT a classroom setting, nor is it the office. This is UT Football fans talking about our team and what affects it.
I do not get mad but sometimes I get even. lol

GO BIG ORANGE!!!!

Should we end sentences in prepositions when correcting others?

Should we end sentences in prepositions when correcting others?

Actually, it's a "grammar myth" that you cannot end sentences using prepositions. For example, you can say, "What did you step on?" You wouldn't say, "On what did you step?" Do you see the difference?

We've been through this with "gonna." You're not "gonna" get me here. The repeated failed attempts to critique the posts and find something to come back with -- only to be inaccurate again -- is downright laughable and a little disconcerting. M'kay?

Can we get back to football now? Pleeeeaaaaassssse...

I just asked a question of the professor. In general a preposition should come before ("pre"-position) the noun it modifies.

"Speech, after all, is in some measure an expression of character, and flexibility in its use is a good way to tell your friends from the robots." Barzun
"if you do learn to speak correct English, who are you going to speak it to?" Darrow
I hope English class is over for today.

How can you not finish a game..

The only excuses you have are
1. Wife goes into labor
2 House Burning Down
3.. Any other unusual or tragic circumstances..

#1 is debatable. IMO it depends how long she can hold out, the score, time left in the game and who they're playing.

Our first child was due on Sept 14th. I told her from the beginning that if she went early the 12th was iffy and if she was late the 19th was out of the question. She would have to work around the Vols. Thankfully she was able to have our son in the morning of the 12th so I had plenty of time to watch the game that afternoon in the hospital room.

Of course if it had rolled into the game, I suppose I could have yelled "Push' in between plays and during the commercials.
