Bama fan at work today

Wow this is funny. I run a vending route and at the technical college I was at, I too saw a bammer with his little bammer shirt on. I even went as far as to pay him a complement and told him that Bama played a great game. He looked at me kind of funny and I reminded him of the recent game and he just looked at me and said"oh". Anyway I continue working and he pipes up again saying "Yeah Alabama could have a pretty good season if they would only get their defense together." So I quickly came to the conclusion that: 1.He's a typical idiotic Bammer.
2.He's just simply a bandwagoner who hardly watches Bama play but sports the colors.

I would guess #2. I think there are a lot of Gator bandwagoners like that too

Funny...don't mistake a superior team playing down to the competition as impending greatness.

if the team is truly superior they would has beat tn like a drum playing down is just another lame excuse like we were tired better get in bed earlier next year or bamma is screwed

Bammer is tired and Florida is sick. The rest of the conference is 'gonna' run out of excuses soon.

It is slang for "going to." Nice try though...

so it is ok for you to use slang on this site, which has no place in the English language, but it is improper for someone you want to feel superior to to use improper grammar...... Just saying

Contractions are most certainly acceptable in the English language. For example, "didn't" is a contraction of "did not." "Wouldn't" is a contraction of "would not." "Gonna" is a contraction of "going to."

I hope you learned something today.

As for the OP, I enjoyed the story. It just goes to show what we're (we are) dealing with when it comes to Bammers. :wavey:

Oh I did learn a lot today....perhaps not what you think I may have learned..... and I have to agree with you that i enjoyed the op's story as well, which is evidence that most people who claim to be Alabama fans in our area, are probably the same ones who claimed they were Florida fans last month :hi:

If you are a student at UT I have a question. How is that English 098 class working out for you?

WOW!!

I see you guys were classmates.

In all seriousness... you're gonna learn when you grow up that communicating orally and in writing are extremely important for your future success.

It's very disheartening to see adults who cannot write and respond using very basic English comprehension. We don't need to be Shakespeare, but writing at an 8th grade level shouldn't be too much to ask for.

Don't get mad -- I'm just trying to reverse the stereotype of the "stupid American."
How do you know the op isn't from a foreign country? He could be Asian for instance. :nono:

Back to the point of the post, I have heard many SEC fans (UGA, Bama, AU) comment that Kiffin is going to make UT a real threat in the coming years. I hope the recruits also feel the same way.

It's actually not a word per webster. Nice try though...

Yes, it is not a word. It is a contraction of TWO words. You actually used one in your opening sentence. "It's" is a contraction of "it is."

LOL... did you actually think you were "gonna" get me? Take care.

Go Vols!

The look on some of the bammers faces and Saybear's as we got ready to kick the FG was priceless!! Some bammers I know wouldn't even stay in the room...they left and when they came back, I acted like TN had won and it got UGLY!!! So funny!! There would have been some sick puppies in Tuskaloser and some bad mouthing of little nicky if we had won....it would have been hilarious to listen to Slimebum on Monday tell us again why TN should FIRE Kiffin...now we know what he was worried about! Remember we weren't SUPPOSED to win, no one gave us a chance and yet bammy couldn't even score a TD on little insignificant TN...of course, Saybear said they were tired and you're saying you played down to the competition...if that makes you feel better, you are a TYPICAL BAMMY!

Unlike you, I don't have to look this stuff up -- especially through online dictionaries. What's sad is that you have taken this so far as to question a phrase as universally accepted as "gonna" -- as in, "I'm Gonna Git You Sucka" or Rick Astley's famous tune, "Never Gonna Give You Up." Take away your poor understanding/comprehension and I wouldn't have to be "Mr. Grammar police man." I thought you Chatty boys were a little smarter?

The moral of the story: Stop acting like an idiot and I won't (will not) have to correct you. The last thing I'm "gonna" (going to) do is let a product of the Hamilton County school system attempt to give me an English lecture.

Can we get back to the discussion on silly Bammers now?

Au revoir... Go Vols!
