Bama fans gonna be angry tonight. Should be some good message board fodder.

Screw message board fodder.....

I wouldn't wanna be driving anywhere near a trailer park in the state tonight. The gunfire is gonna be coming fast and furious once the populace sees this on their aol dial up accounts.

I can't imagine who would be a better coach for them. This is just how the market works for a proven success. No team is going to dominate the playoff system. I expect Bama fans to resent this move, but it will work out better than they deserve. They may run him out of Tuscaloosa, but they probably can't upgrade.

I bet this was actually done (handshake agreement) right around the Rose Bowl and they waited until today to make it official to reduce the fan backlash.

If they want to keep him (and I think they do, because they likely wouldn't upgrade if he was fired or left), then the probably did have to pay him, because I think he wanted out of there.

That does make sense.

I would hate to be the guy having to replace Saint Nick

Money talks obviously, but his initial contract wasn't even for that much more money than what Washington was offering. Washington had offered him a long term deal that was going to average $9.4m/annually. The initial deal he signed with Bama paid him $10m.

He left for about a 6% higher salary and infinitely more stress. Washington doesn't have a state income tax, either, although they are trying to push through a new one as we speak on high earners.

The first part of this sentence was shocking. The second half is very on brand

Hell, he might have to do it next year.
Short of enticing St Nick back into the building, exactly who are they going to get who is better?

Cignetti ain't moving. Day ain't moving. Sark ain't moving. Kirby ain't moving.

Dabo? Hehehehehe. A dinosaur now.

Jimbo? Maybe he and Freeze can bring their golf clubs to Tuscaloosa.

Firing is easy. Upgrading, not so much.

They would 100% fire him without a clear plan to replace him.

When I saw this Ty Simpson Bama offensive help stat (or lack thereof) last night in the draft, I flipped to thinking an 11-4 season, SECCG, and a road playoff win was really a heck of a coaching result for year 2 for any coach!? This must have factored into their decision to extend.
