Jalen Hurd has better ball security. His return is a positive overlooked in discussions about tailback performance. GBO

He has had his share of fumbles also.H urd has put the ball on the ground 4 times so far this year. This year it's been a huge issue with our backfield in Dobb's,Kamara,Hurd and Kelly. 17 fumbles from those 4 and that is just rushing the ball, doesn't count the fumbles when they turned receiver. Fact is this has been a year long problem.

Hurd has put the ball on the ground alot this year feels like more than last year. Hoping kamara gets a majority of the carries. He is too good to keep on the side lines. He reminds me of vfl34

Yep. They all fumble. It starts out being a technique thing, but if you don't fix it and continue to fumble it becomes mental. It is definitely in these guys' heads at this point.

CBJ - "High and tight, like ball security." Vols proceeded to loose 5 fumbles two weeks later

Biggest culprit is Dobbs. Love me some Josh Dobbs, but through 6 games he has fumbled 9 times and he's thrown 8 picks.

And although they weren't turnovers by Josh, he had the opportunity to fall on two fumbles last week but didn't either time....he chose to try and pick both up and didn't secure either and both plays resulted in a change of possession. Loved the effort, but gotta make better decisions going forward.

Usually, turnovers cost games. This team has overcome with great experience and effort. But, we do have to start winning the turnover battle especially against Alabama. Hoping for some breaks early tomorrow. Go Vols.

The fumbles are Dobbs fault. However, at least 2 picks are the fault of the receiver, juggling and dropping passes. Dobbs has to be better with the ball, but so does everyone else.

I'm on record saying Jalen Hurd will be one of if not the best RB in UT history. With that being said, I think the key to this game offensively TOMORROW is Kamara. I think he has to (and will) light it up tomorrow. Bama is going to be chasing ghosts when he has the ball.

Oh absolutely. 2 of the interceptions were on Croom and PWill, it's a part of football. But we've fumbled 21 times so far, and nearly half of them are Dobbs'. Also, if you subtract the 2 picks that weren't on Dobbs at all, that's still 6 through 6 games, as compared to 5 all of last year in 13 games.

Everybody, from Kamara to Kelly to Berry to Hurd must get better....but the biggest culprit is also our best player IMHO, and that's Dobbs.

Maybe both of them should stay an extra year in school to get a hold on this problem before turning pro...

Josh - 7 Fumbles (#2 in the country for a QB)
Alvin - 5 Fumbles (#1 in the country for a RB)
Jalen - 3 Fumbles

Do I need to list the number of carries that each player has had, so you can understand the actual percentage of how many times each player fumbles? Or do you get the point?

Ball security is of the utmost importance, but this is what we need to be concerned with. This will give you an idea of what we're facing.

Ranking of Rushing Defense we've faced/facing:

1 - Alabama

17th - Va Tech

20th - Ohio

39th - Appalachian St.

67th - TAM

Hurd may not be as dynamic as you'd like, but he's extremely consistent, and that's why he gets the majority of the carries. UT is going to need that dynamic tomorrow along with Alvin's playmaking ability.

If Dobbs had just wrapped up two of those fumbles in the A&M game we win....
Also, stop fighting for that extra foot and go down before they strip the ball...

Need all of the breaks to go our way today. Bama will make you PAY for shoddy discipline.
