How is it that a bad thing? You've got some emotional issues dude.Manning's NFL accomplishments don't get us a NC. As is have said before, there is too much blame but on his feet but there is too much love as well. I'm just telling you that I have lived across the southeast. There is no team I know of that would name a street after Manning for what he accomplished. Maybe Ole Miss? Maybe SC? AL has heisman winners with NC rings who are an afterthought.
You're the only person here infatuated with Rex Grossman. Here's the stats that matter.Pull Rex Grossman's stats v. Peyton's. Do better. Pull Peyton's records vs. Rex. in terms of wins each season and importance. Peyton didn't do great here. There are posters who are just blinded by saying Peyton isn't the best creation ever. He was above average here, but not great.

We love Peyton. Peyton loves Tennessee. We cheered for him in the pros named a street after him, and he gives the university money and comes to a lot a games to show support. It's a great relationship. You're on here trying to say it's a bad thing that we love Peyton. It's not. It's actually really cool. Maybe if Tee wouldn't have chosen to coach at other places earlier in his career or publicly shown his support for the Vols instead of calling our top recruit "soft and terrible" we'd like him a little more than we already do, but we love Tee too. For 99% of us, our relationship with VFLs is about more than championships. There's nothing embarrassing about it and it's not a bad thing to name a street after someone just to show your appreciation. Not understanding your post. Manning was not able to reach the promised land here. Tee Martin was. I hate how our fan base undervalues Tee. When I was on walking out of Neyland in '98 after the Vols beat UF and somebody was carrying a CBS camera, It was amazing. Peyton did some good things, but nothing like that. You cannot in any way, shape, or form make an argument that Manning was any better than Grossman. You certainly can't make a similar argument against McElroy, Tua, Leak, or Tebow. However, you could with Martin
Tua and Tebow were better than Manning in college, not disputing that. However, you most certainly could not even put Martin in the same category of not even Peyton. They didn't win the championship in 98 because of Martin. He wasn't much more than a game manager and his individual stats reflect that. The defense gave up 189 points in 98. but gave up 286 in 97. Couple the defense and the #1 SOS in 1997 and they still only lost 2 games that year (includes the bowl game against Nebraska who finished undefeated). When UT needed big drives in 98, they didn't rely on Martin, they ran it down the opponents throats. t. McElroy has a title, not because of him, but because of Ingram (as a RB, was responsible for 20 TDs compared to McElroys 18) and their Defense that gave up only 11 points/game. You can think what you want, but team accomplishments should never be the sole reason people dispute someones greatness. If you would rather take Martin over Manning, then lets just be glad that you're not the coach. Not understanding your post. Manning was not able to reach the promised land here. Tee Martin was. Again, a comparison with competitors is completely irrelevant assuming your issue is that we like Peyton too much. Nothing Rex Grossman has accomplished can change the fact that Peyton is UT's all-team leader passer or that he's given back to UT more than any VFL. That's why we love him, so unless you've got something to disprove that I'm afraid you're wasting your time.Disagree. Peyton is a VFL, but his achievements at UT are average. If you compare them to competitors, his achievements are questionable. I used Rex Grossman as a comparison because Grossman's record and championships mirror to exceed Manning's.
Grossman would never have a street named after him in UF, but Grossman has almost an identical career to Peyton. I would rather posters fawn over players like Price or QBs like Martin who won it all. What Manning achieved in the NFL is incredible and he it does nothing but help the Vols. But he was an average QB while here. Nobody can prove otherwise.

You’re pathetic. Does an average qb get drafted #1 overall? No, they don’t. Please just stop with your stupid bsDisagree. Peyton is a VFL, but his achievements at UT are average. He threw for 89 TDs...that's not average for UT or the SEC..Disagree. Peyton is a VFL, but his achievements at UT are average. If you compare them to competitors, his achievements are questionable.
