Of course it isn't.
But any coach can look and see that Fulmer took 6 excellent years and ran with it for 17 (not knocking Fulmer but he was a deity for winning a NC)
Lane Kiffin was a hero for one season.
Dooley was loved all the way up until the Georgia game for really doing nothing but winning the games against the patsies on the schedule.
The fanbase isn't delusional, it's win starved. The foundation is laid to be an 8 win team with the cream puff OOC schedule and wins against Vandy, UK and Mizzou.
Cincinnati wasn't a patsy but otherwise point taken and other than Georgia Kiffin didn't win anything special and lost to a pitiful UCLA team at home.
So, you know what offers were made and what the financial terms were? Even with your connections, I highly doubt that. If not, then lets stop with the nonsense that no coaches want to coach here.
Kevlin Sumlin was reported to be very interested in the job, and his Houston unit (even though they play in the CUSA) upset both #5 Ok St...in their own back yard, then turned around and beat Texas Tech, which was ranked high. He was a much more proven candidate than Dooley, so don't put yourself in the same camp suffering from battered wife (vols) syndrome.
Coaches are fully aware that as soon as they start winning somewhere, that some bigger program that is now struggling will eventually come calling, and pay them accordingly to right the ship. That's just coaching 101.
So, lets stop belching out nonsense about no one willing to take a huge pay raise to come and get a once proud and prestigious program back on it's feet. Plenty of solid candidates to choose from...IF THE PRICE IS RIGHT!
Despite the poor bowl showing against an underrated Va Tech team, Kiffin's team was actually improving week by week. I wish him nothing but, ill, but if you compare this team to the 2009 team, the regression is obvious.
I thought they looked great against Ole Miss. Don't get me wrong, I liked Kiffin. I am not sure they were improving all that much during that year. However, the job he did with Crompton was outstanding. I also think Kiffin had a little more to work with than Dooley.
