Good analysis. Very detailed and organized.I do a statistical commentary with another UW fan over at Buckyville. If you're interested in that, here's the link. Buckyville-Tennessee box score observations
Enjoyed the analysis, hadn’t heard that points off turnovers was flawedI do a statistical commentary with another UW fan over at Buckyville. If you're interested in that, here's the link. Buckyville-Tennessee box score observations
That's a conclusion we drew a couple of years ago. What is the difference between scoring after the opposing team travels and scoring after securing a defensive rebound? Or even after a made basket? We say there isn't any. It's just a normal change of possession. Now, live-ball steals might lead to easy transition opportunities, and that is different, but I've never seen a main-stream box score keep track of those (plus, some of those transition opportunities happen in non-steal situations, too).Enjoyed the analysis, hadn’t heard that points off turnovers was flawed

We also view assists as less meaningful for a couple of reasons. First, it is dependent on the official scorer more than other stats. There's been some stats done on this - certain schools have much more generous assist-giving scorers than others. The home and away assist numbers for say, Minnesota, are very different. Second, what is the difference between a basket scored with an assist and one that isn't? Third, you don't get an assist for a great pass that leads to a missed shot. There are people who like assists anyway, so I will acknowledge that this is only my strongly held opinion and others see it differently.
Impressed with your roster and IMO you guys will fare well in Big 10 games..Heck, if you guys win HALF of the close ones last year I'm sure this years' team would be Big Dance experienced and much tougher for postseason play, NIT games aside.. But thanks for the civil exchange and hopefully you guys and the Vols will meet again......In the Final Four (wink wink)That's a conclusion we drew a couple of years ago.
