oh no, i talk like a sailor myself, so it doesn't really offend me, but thanks for being a drama queen in your post. but when the guy drops the f bomb what seems like every 5 seconds and it is tiger woods it seems odd. it was not what i would have expected. that is what i was trying to get at with referring to his language.

i'm the drama queen yet you're the one who makes it sound like it was your personal lord and savior dropping F bombs. he's as human as you and i.

Yeah,sure you have....

it certainly makes it easier to recognize them when they drop the 'do you know who i am' line.

I heard an interview on radio station 680 - the Fan - out of Atlanta with a woman who caters to celebs out in Las Vegas. She said she has been with Tiger Woods & his group many times @ various restaurants and said Tiger is the biggest cheap skate she has ever seen. She said they were @ this famous restaurant one night and Tiger's bill was $2180 bucks; said Tiger paid exactly $2,180 and left. She stated it is well known around Las Vegas that Tiger is a lousy cheap skate and no one wants to escort him or his party around to the night spots due to his cheap reputation.

Waited on CPF a few times and never had a problem getting a good tip. He wasn't the most pleasant but he also had about 50 people come see him while he was trying to eat (this was 96-98).

But the best of the bunch was CPS. She was always pleasant and took care of the wait staff.

Sometimes bad tips reflect more on the server than the tipper IMO.

i honestly am not following your attempt at a personal attack. if you actually can comprehend what i wrote, you would see that tiger is not my "lord and savior" (yet another false statement on your part). but since you clearly misinterpreted what i had originally stated i thought that i would explain it in my last post addressed to you. so for the second and hopefully the final time i will have to explain this to you, tiger's use of vocabulary was not what i would have expected. it simply caught me off guard. i was not offended by his vocabulary because i tend to use some of the same language from time to time myself. but i did not use similar vocabulary around tiger when he was our client due to proffessionalism. that in no way is saying that he should not use any language he chooses to, but it was just surprising to all of us. please, let me know if you need further clarification.

I met CPS on the sidelines of one of the games. She nearly crushed my hand when she shook it.

I have a very long story, but to keep it short I ended up sitting next to Whitney Houston and her daughter at the sushi bar in Benihana in Alpharetta about 6 years ago. The only other people in the sushi area were Bobby Brown and their "crew" at the tables. They were partying and having a great time (at one point the manager had to tell them that smoking the dope pipe inside was illegal, then Bobby came over to me and my buddy and told us he was going to buy the place and rename it Bobby Brown's so he could fire up inside).

Well, when they were finished the check came to Whitney at the sushi bar and the total was around $300 for the group. It took them about 10 minutes and polling from everyone in the party to figure out how much would 10% of the bill be for the tip. That was the one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

Then they went outside, Whitney and her daughter got into a Carrera, Bobby into his Cayenne, and the posse loaded up into a Rover and they left.

Looks to me like anyone has a personal vendetta against anyone they can write it and have it published. The anonymous waiter pretty much reveals my respect for the site.I'm just saying.....

they were just making sure they had enough to pay the crack dealer later.

Celebrity Tippers

  • Richard Dryfuss
  • Bridget Fonda
  • Phillip Fulmer (college football coach)
  • Al Gore
  • Ethan Hawke
  • Don Henley
  • Whitney Houston
I had to laugh.

To me, tipping properly is a function of having class. If you scan the names on the "good" side of this list, then scan the names on the "bad" side, it appears this theory holds up.

Having our youngest work through UT waiting tables, we had an interest in tipping. Some guests work these people like dogs, barking out orders like they're on a plantation somewhere, and leaving a dollar tip.

Her list of terrible tippers (and being a preacher this pains me): 1) church people, 2) women, 3) politicians.

They work hard, small base pay, it's worth something to get good service. Oh yeah, just because you clipped a coupon doesn't count; they worked on your table at the tab rate.

I've run across servers that expect 15% just for showing up - that crazy American entitlement coming out. TIPS = To Insure Prompt Service.

If I get lousy service - slow food, no check-ins, bad attitude - they get a lousy tip.

I rarely leave 15%. If it's good service, I'll hit 'em up for 20%. If it's bad (like I got last week at a wing place), I'll leave a $1 just so they know it's a bad tip.

If that makes me a bad tipper, so be it.

Why do some people feel compelled to defend whether or not CPF is and was a bad tipper? If people experienced it first hand on the bad side outweighs those who experienced it on the good side, there has to be some truth to it. I do not know of any waiter or waitress who would not know who CPF was and would not provide good service to knowing his salary.

People were quick to come to his defense on coaching and now people are doing the same on this. The bottomline is if you receive great service you should feel obligated to reward your server and not view it as that is their job. I will tip 15% for decent service but will go up to 25% for great service because let's face it, if your server is not making tips they will not survive long on their hourly wage.

If she is pretty and provides great service I tip much higher.

Actually it's 1-1 on good vs bad so what's the truth? You believe what you want to believe and I'll believe what I experienced first hand. It's not backing CPF it's just telling the truth as I see it.

And any waiter who thinks they can tell who will/will not tip well is telling you lies. For example, many will say that teachers are bad tippers. As the son of a teacher I loved to get them because I knew what it took. But that may be why I'm not a career waiter...

phillip fulmer (head football coach, univ. Of tn):

I waited tables at a restaurant on "the strip". Party central if you're a ut student. Phil came in with his wife and three kids one night and i was afforded the luxury of putting up with them. Phil is an ass, his wife is a bitch and his kids reflect precisely the sort of people their parents are. Kids ate free at that restaurant back then so the total bill for the table (a five top) was $18.52 (this has been a few years). I received a whopping $1.50 for the tip, after kissing his ass, and hers and putting up with the brats. Y'know, phil, you're a head coach for a nationally recognized football program. Your salary is published in the damn paper (working for a state institution makes your salary public domain). It's bad enough you're an idiot, and your wife is a bitch and your kids are a pain in the ass...i guess coughing up a decent tip is just too much for you. A******.

I was honestly shocked to see Warren Sapp on the list as a saint tipper...I know a girl who used to work at a resturant he liked years ago in Tampa and she said she hated waiting on his table because he never tipped and just had a terrible attitude with people.

I have never waited or worked in the delivery business but I do know alot who have. If a person is in that occupation, it should be common knowledge the better you serve the more money you stand to make and treat all guests like VIP's.

A friend of mine who works at the Corner Pub in Nashville waited on Steve McNair and a few of his former Titans teammates a few years ago. Apparently Mr. McNair and the Corner Pub's owner co-owned/ran a softball team at the time. Anyway, their bill came to somewhere around $200. McNair told my friend "you did great" and wrote the total as $700 ($500 tip).

My ex-wife used to own a restaurant in the Knoxville area. She was a very generous tipper....IF....she received good service. Hell, she would tip 15% for half-ass service.

When she got really bad service, and I only saw her do this twice. She would leave one penny. I asked her why bother. She said, "when you leave a penny, they know you didn't forget to tip. They know their poor service was the reason."

She NEVER blamed the server for the kitchen taking forever either. Her theory. "The server is doing a good job, I would fire the cook."

I heard someone on the radio say, that he tipped the valet who brought him his car at the hotel he stayed at $100 each time.

There's no excuse for someone with Fulmer's wealth being so cheap. Of that celebrity list, I think Fulmer's worth more then just about anybody on it. How many celebrities honestly are really going to get bad service from the wait staff? Isn't that one of their perks? They get seated first, get their food first, etc.
