Bad News For Tennessee

If you're weirdly/bizarrely intimidated or daunted by the quote fuzzy math unquote, I mean you could just probably figure out that his point is essentially: Hey Vols, in noting your horrid fg-defense, and further noting your reliance on TOs, and given that upper-tier teams tend to fare well in both categories, it seems like you're probably pretty poorly equipped to handle the rigours and quality of march opponents, at least compared to the KU's and UCLA's and Duke's of the world.

I'm not even sure what there is to argue about with that conclusion. Anyone?

The "Duke's" of the world are pretty weak this year.

The title of this thread is quite misleading and sensationalistic.

The word 'bad' itself is not necessarily 'dire' or 'super frighteningly horrible omg'-ish.

Article is about how the vols defensive numbers rely on TOs, it shows this through data, and says: this is not good, which is another way of saying this is bad.

As far as I can tell that's all rather obvious, and therefore neither 'misleading' nor 'sensationalistic'.

I could change the title for you, but it might be better if you just upgrade your pacemaker.

I was back in the days of Kosar and Metcalf, but my allegiances rest with styles of play rather than cities I don't live in(man, try rooting for a CFL team, it's impossible).

That particular byner moment just always stands out to me as one of the more gut-wrenching sports-rooting moments i've ever had.

A very interesting analysis, and probably pretty accurate.

the only think I have a problem with is his assumption that we are facing inferior competition to the teams we will face in the tournament.

Does anyone here think that Long Beach State is substantially better than Georgia, Ole Miss, or Alabama?

Additionally, though LBSU had a TO% under 20, we still beat them by 35. Of course, the other 2 tourney games were nailbiters, and I guess that LBSU blowout can be explained by the fact we shot 60% from the field.

Damn... pretty good analysis. Let's hope that the fact that there are not a lot of pressure teams out there will give us an edge against teams that have not seen lots of it in their conferences.

JuJuan and Lofton really are the x-factors. If they get good looks and knock them down, we are "money" in the words of Mr. Bertlekamp.

It wouldn't hurt to get a couple double-doubles down low from Smith and Chism, either.

Makes that moment even more satisfying for me then, being that my allegiance rests (at that time) in a city that I didn't live in, and that you have more arrogance than a Gator football coach.

:) Oddly enough I later became a Broncos fan during the Plummer years.

Classic case of offering no alternative position and grandstanding behind empty platitudes devoid of any backing.

This seems a legit point of arguement vs our Vols' chances at longevity come March. You think otherwise, and why?

Blah, Blah, Blah, Yada, Yada, Yada, 25 cent word, 25 cent word.

My argument is that you can use a lot of big words but you can't spell argument! :):dance2:

The only stat that matters is who scores the most points Saturday night. The rest of the stats are for losers.

Why don't you run all the stats and tell us who the winner is and then we won't have to play the game!:zeitung_lesen:

Oh doubtless there's a lot of other instances where I misspell words as well. Not my strong suit.

I'm sorry you are offended(or whatever) by the words I use, I think it's just that my field uses these words a lot--for, yes, probably unnecessary reasons--and so they just get ingrained in me and I don't even realize they are '.25 words' or whatever.

I assure you, if I had at the ready a more concise way of expressing my point I would go that route.

and you guys think i'm long winded.......jeez.

all that to say "when we don't force turovers it negatively affects our offense".

that is brand new information.:eek:lol:

What is this argument(hat-tip to the guy with poker av. for correction) about exactly?

If you are considering buying a car, do you not read up on the cars you're choosing between? Doesn't this reading-up help you make a more informed purchase? or if someone starts telling you about the Prius' drawbacks do you just say "blahblahblah, I'm gonna buy the car and then just see what happens"?

literally, he said a lot more........but in the end, as to the overal message.......uh, not really.

Jake, you are long winded, but you at least cover multiple points in your theses which makes for a good read. :good!:

This, however, meh.

Why would I want to test drive my team? I am a fan and already own my team win or loss they are mine!
