I dated a girl in HS that was 2 days younger than me. Everything that was legal at 15, 16, or 17 was all of a certain illegal for a few hours and then legal again...

Wouldn't say projecting. Just throwing that out cause a lot of people that like to throw around the pedo title may not have considered those little scenarios of their youth.

And you're just one person. Could apply to others. even many others. Would not be uncommon for a 18-19yo to date a 16-17 yo. So, in the technical legal sense if they are loosey goosey.....if the parents didn't take kindly to the scenario...

I remember Stossel had a couple on his show where they were 10 years into marriage, had kids, and he was still having to register as a sex offender because he got busted for statutory rape when she was 17 and he was 19.

I would quite agree. But many state laws don't. So, for the ducks that like to sling labels, just thought I'd put the technical legal line out there that you can still get charged for a "minor". Varies. But, most states are 17 or 18 before you're off the hook legally. Typically if one is in the last year of being "minor" and the parents, or cops, are out for blood, you may not have a good day.

Real life though...Know a kid now in his mid-30's. He and another girl from his town, when they were both underage were friends. She sent him a pic of her in her bikini, non-nude, from one day they hung out at another friends pool. As years pass, he stays in a lot of trouble in hometown, mostly all possession and use AFIK. Gets to where he can't even drive through town w/o getting pulled over and searched just so they can pin something else in him. My hometown too, so I know how crooked they are. Well, last incident they take his phone. Guess what pic of underage girl he still has even though he was underage at the time too. They are both now in mid-30's. He just never though of deleting that. Didn't matter to the PD though, even though they could prove he and hte gir were underage at the time of the photo. non-nude mind you. Bikini only. He's still delaing with that on parole years later, and cost them over $30K lawyer fees to keep that from burying him for life with a label. They were both 14-15 at the time. He was mid-late 20's when they threw it at him. He's actually got cause to sue that PD for several things, but no more money to pursue it.

In Little House on the Prairie days, they were marrying at 15ish. In "theory" and you'd have to say biologically I guess, NORMAL attraction develops during and after the development years. And that does not inherently include the child years that we associate to pedo. That's not normal period. THough practical and practiced during the old west years, we don't consider it normal for a 20 something to stop by the shack and pick up there 16/15 yo wife. Life was shorter, harder, and began earlier. By today's acceptances, that is also not normal now as it was 100 years ago. Seems most state laws to being of legal age in the boy/girl department coincide with primary ed being completed and able to go out on your own. Hence the 17/18 technicality.

I wouldn't depict some of yall as apes. It would be something much more primitive.

Nonetheless you can't make that mistake or if you do then mitigate it. It's harder with a dishonest media though. And sorry I never even saw the post. It's not in my top 20 list.

By the letter of the law, yes. But, unless you seriously pissed her props off, no DA is gonna waste time on it. Most reasonable people would not even scoff at that scenario. It is splitting hairs, but if you're talking laws on the books.....

I like GVF and McDad but the disingenuous nature of mitigating/what iffing the severity of pedophilia and breaking it down to varying degrees just makes me feel gross.
