Bad Bunny

I had never heard of him, but I did pull up and listen to a few of his songs on Spotify last night.

I have a pretty broad range of musical tastes, and I'm sorry, but that crap is terrible. Seems an odd choice for a Super Bowl, I don't care how many worldwide listens he gets.

I can imagine who is in charge of making these decisions.

There will be a lot of people that watch just for him. He has more monthly listeners than Trump has voters

Anyone want to take a guess if the NFL is trying to grow its brand outside of the US? Do people think they play theses oversees games bc the players want a free trip to England or Mexico? Genuinely don't see how anyone either A.) Has any issue with this or B.) Don't understand the decision

It's conservatives, whining about the Super Bowl halftime performer is an annual ritual

Funny coming from the person whose every post is "the left is responsible for everything bad in the world and the right (my favorite team) is sugar and spice and everything nice!!"
No; liberals aren’t responsible for everything bad in the world. Alabama fans and lawyers also make the list.
But seriously; the left had some good ideas when they were a responsible pro-American party fighting for the little guy. Used to vote for them from time to time.
But today’s left is a pro-socialist cult fighting for unlimited non vetted immigration and for drag queen story hours and men in women’s changing rooms.
I miss what they once were

If the NFL were looking solely for an international artist with a large listening base and extreme popularity in the world’s most populated zone (East Asia) they should have went with a K-Pop band. BTS is very popular right now with young people.
But if I were in charge of the halftime show; I would easily pick German Schlagersangerin Andrea Berg

I'm pleasantly surprised you know who BTS is, but Bad Bunny is more popular than them in the U.S. too

I just wonder how the math works. There is and never will be an act that would get me to watch soccer. I might tune in to ONLY watch said act but then I'm out again. The issue is there is sooooooooooo much one can watch now with streaming there's just no reason to ever think "Well I'm here...may as well see what this whole other thing is about."

The only thing I can think of is that it may be an attempt to work it the other way. "Maybe" if they can pull some eyes for the show to make up for the sports fans that couldn't care less and bail at half time to try to keep the sponsors willing to buy time? I suppose that could make some sense assuming it actually works in practice.

In my neophyte opinion which is purely anecdotal, people watch the Superbowl for 1 of two reasons. And to define watch I don't mean just being at a party and the game being background noise but actually paying attention to the game. They either are football fans or wanting to watch the commercials. Yeah, I've been at SB parties where the women wanted to be told when it's halftime so they could watch that show but not a damn sole was there watching the game just for the HT show.

That kinda syncs up with what I posited. Maybe trying to replace the eyeballs of the sports fans who wouldn't have cared much about half time regardless for eyeballs that might not care much for the game but be interested in the show. I guess that's a good "idea" but unsure how the numbers actually work.

I don't have a clue how ratings are figured. I'm guessing that if someone flips the channel over to watch the HT show it's credited with a household watching?
