Could get another big W against Vandy on Thursday. Maybe that guy named Chris Lofton will show up.

it's still odd to see a bball poll and not see KY or FL listed.

though i see where FL is now in the "other's recieving votes".

they've gotten off to a good start, it'll be interesting to watch how they do in conf. let's face it, they, with the conf. being down, actually could have a shot at coming out 12-4 or so.......

Plus, Ogilvy will not know what hit him when we have six hands swatting at the ball and in his face.

I worry more about Florida than anyone else in the East. They are young, but very talented. Plus, they don't have the target on their back like they have in the past. We do.

12-4 would be about the absolute worst I would expect from this team, given the quality of conference opposition.

yep. besides MSU and Ole Miss, the west is a dog.

besides us and vandy, they're not going to get much of a fight from GA or SC, and i'm not a believer in KY.

i'll reserve judgement on Vandy after we see them Thursday. but 12-4/11-5 in conf for FL is certainly realistic this year.

but let's say they lose to Ole Miss, us twice and split Vandy.......i can see them winning the rest of their games.....(and i'm not convinced they wont' give us all we want)

I completely misunderstood. I thought you were talking about UT being 12-4.

and don't forget about Arky in the West. They don't have a PG and coaching looks a little weak, but they are big and do have some talent.

I think we lose to Vandy. Don't think we can stop Ogilvy.

A loss at home against Vanderbilt, obviously you did not watch the UK/Vandy game on Saturday. Both teamed looked terrible. I am not sure Vandy hit more than 1 field goal in both overtimes (Kentucky did not do much better).

UT's defense gives Vandy fits (and I think it will give most any team fits, including Memphis) the only team I have seen that can probably come on the floor and handle the VOLS D is N.Caro with Lawson. UT wins against Vandy by 10 to 12 points at home.

too late!!! but you're right....they will be a factor in the west, as i did completely forget them.

oh, at this point for us, i would almost think 12-4 would be a big of a disappointment. i don't think we'll win 'em all, but really, there aren't any teams in the SEC that are just "better" than us. are there teams that match up with us better than others, sure there are.

but i'm honestly looking at 14-2/13-3 as where we should wind up in conf. the games on the schedule that stick out to me:

This Thursday Vandy
@ KY Jan 22
@ MSU Feb. 2
@ Vandy (for now), Feb 26 (it's right after the Memphis game, tough back to back road games
@ FL Mar 5

the Auburn game at home just prior to the Memphis game sticks out also.

i think we end up 26-7 to 28-5 or there abouts....and at worst a 3 seed.......sweep fl and ky and split with vandy and a L to memphis, 29-4/30-3? that just doesn't sound right though......hard to get my head around that.

DJ Augustin handled it just fine.

Teams approach UT today with the idea that if they don't TO against the press (really the inbound pass), that they will score in the halfcourt. That is an earned reputation, not one people are just hoping for.

If Chism stays out of foul trouble, then yes we can. At the end of the game, it will not matter as Vandy will not win at TBA.

Arkansas is 2-0 in SEC play and has plenty of talent. If Pelphrey can get this team to gel, then this will be a very dangerous team.

Teams with quality bigs and quick, solid ball-handlers will cause UT problems. With Duke out, we do not have the quality size down low and our guards, on the whole, do not have the speed to keep up with the really quick guys. Tabb would probably help in the defense of the guards, but who knows if he will get the chance. N.Carolina would not be the only team that causes match-up problems for the Vols defense.

You're all missing the most important aspect of thursday's matchup...

It will be this season's first appearance of the orange blazer. Vandy will be blinded. 30 turnovers at least.
