Back To Work

I hope this staff stays together for years to come.

IMO, that is just wishful thinking. 3 years as a staff, tops.

They will either be fired and ran out of here or they will be winning and getting promotions.

I think if CLK wins, he is headed elsewhere. I think cannot help but think that UT is a stepping stone for him.

Of course, I hope I am wrong about all of this and we have the majority of this staff still in place 10 years from now and a couple of National Championships to go with it.

I was discussing this with a friend over the weekend... Where would kiffin go if he was using this as a stepping stone? I'm interested to see if he would go back to the NFL, but I think he knows better than that after the Oakland stint. I could see him leaving for one job... USC. Provided he wins a ton of games and championships. I think Monte will be the first to leave (retirement) leaving the DC position open to Orgeron. I just don't see Lane moving on for any other job than USC.

Lane isnt Nick Satan, he doesnt look for the biggest pile of money. he took a reduction in pay to get a better coaching staff. IMO i think he stays but the staff wont

before we pat these guys on the back for a mission accomplished, let's see if they can string some wins together. We are in the honeymoon period right now and we are seeing things in orange coloured glasses. Let's see how ready our players are when they play UCLA, UF, UGA, etc. I am fired up to but I was also fired up about Dave Clawson. Don't think we should be givng Lane the Neyland award or a send off parade to the NFL just yet.

I see Lane and Coach O being here the longest. If we keep winning Lane will stay. He is young. He needs Ut to turn into a absolute powerhouse before a NFL team even attempts to give him a quality job. O will stay because M. Kiffin will retire one day and O will take over. After that you never know. He could take over UT if Lane bounces. I see the less known coaches leaving sooner then later. Once they start getting good press they will move on to become bigger position coaches and get more credit. Chaney is someone I can't put a thumb on. If he actually gets credit for what he is doing he might move on to a college or back to the NFL or he stays on due to the fact he is on a winning program and enjoys his position enough. You also have people saying we could bomb and suck and they will all be fired. If this staff gets fired then honestly there is no hope for UT. This is a legendary staff. Maybe 1 or 2 coaching changes here and there but nothing big.

IMO, CLK has assured himself of long term coaches. He's paid them well, and the only way some of them can better themselves is a Coordinators job or HC. I'm trying not to be overly optimistic on this season. We are going to be better, but so is every one else in the league. Would love to win 9 + games, but 7 + is more realistic. I did see some slight improvement in the OW game, but here again, it wasn't against an all out D. We'll see.
