Back to "The Future" (Kelly Washington)

most people remember the lsu game. I remember a home game in 2002, can't remember the team, but I remember it was either 3rd and long or 4th and long.. He caught a 5 - 10 yd pass on a slant, and then did about 5 or 6 spin moves, making the defense look stupid and whiff nothing but air on each one. He ended up getting the first down... Same thing in 2002 against Florida. He caught a pass down the middle, and then just out-ran and out muscled the florida team for a 30-40 yard TD catch... There was no doubt that he was the best player on the field, but he was literally and figuratively a "man among boys" so maybe that explains why his nfl career didn't replicate his college days

It seems like I remember witten didn't like the future that was why he left early

Witten was one of those that had nothing left to really play (at the time) for his senior year. Much like Meachem and Berry. They had all done everything they wanted and had to do at the college level and moved on.

Considered a lock to be a first-round pick if he left early, Washington stayed for his sophomore year but was limited to four games due to injuries. After missing the first two games of that 2002 season with a knee sprain, and suffered a concussion October 12 at Georgia that sidelined him for the remainder of the season. He underwent surgery on November 19 to fuse two vertebrae in his neck.
