Back Off Crompton

Actually, the option was used by very few teams by the late eighties and early nineties. Ut played in a pro-style multiple offense, not much different than the one they are playing in today. They ran the ball well and threw it downfield even better. See Chuck Webb, Reggie Cobb, Tony Thompson, Charlie Garner, Carl Pickens, Alvin Harper, Anthony Morgan, Anthony Miller

No, the spread isn't the king. It is a fad used by some younger coaches. People are figuring it out. The very best teams don't use it and won't use it and know how to defend it.

Damn good post. That's what I tell my friends. The spread option is just a fad, and pretty soon the pro-style offense and ground game will be king again.

Crampton is not the answer here we HAVE all seen highly touted qbs out of high school be a bust meaning he is one of those select few guys that don't have it. Just remember to cheer him on sat. Cause our coaches will not bench him for someone that can throw the ball to the wr's arms not at there feet and your crazy if you think jc is the answer!

Crompton is a joke! I had his back the first couple of games thinking he would come around but he should have picked it up by now. Since he was so highly recruited the Coach may need to set him straight by sitting his ass on the pine. Competition builds success. I just hope the Coach is actually letting them compete for the position. Stephens should at the least get two quarters this week.

Not many run the spread 100%, but a lot of the best do run it in some form or another. USC, Florida, Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Texas, Missouri, are all teams that run that offense in some form or another.

In truth, it IS a gimmick offense. Case in point, do you ever wonder why NFL teams don't run the spread? Because the defenses they face week in and week out are disciplined and talented enough to stop it every time. Same thin in college... good defense stops the Mickey Mouse gadget offense every time. Mich over Florida. Oregon St over USC. Hell, we should of beat Auburn. OU owns Texas. Alabama and LSU DO NOT RUN THE SPREAD.

To steal a quote from Ty Webb.

I believe Crompton bleeds orange, and I do remember his recruitment. I was looking forward to him playing this year. He is not ready - period. He has cost us games. There is no more time for OJT. A move has to be made.
