Back Off Crompton

Could be ADD or similar....I watched Phil coaching him up and JC had his mouth running in the direction of another player, and was not focused on Phil....looked strange to me, but pretty much on par for this kid.

I thought that was rly weird i will say

Look Ainge made boneheaded plays, but most of his stuff was awful throws. For Crompton it's everything

Yes, he's made some mis-reads, over throws, and threw some picks. Every QB in history has done so.

Don't ya'll remember when Crompton was getting recruited that he was highly touted as a dual threat QB? He also convinced several others from that class (D-MO, for example) to come to Tennessee. Crompton is like most of us on here - Here's a true Tennessee Volunteer fan. Once he signed, he was part of what many considered to be the best signing class in the nation.

Now, a bunch of armchair knuckleheads are claiming he's an awful quarterback and should be benched. You see the problem is not Crompton, he's just not being developed by his coaches. His game play often looks pitiful, but that's not ALL his fault. Dave Clawson should take the majority of the blame for our offensive woes this season. :banghead2:

I disagree with your post totally. UCLA was the coaches fault everything else is on Crompton. He isnt the first highly touted QB not to be able to play at this level. I even predict we will see a QB change after the next SEC game. You will also see Stephens get some snpas in the N. Illinois game.

I would like to know what is at the heart of Crompton's problem.

Does his nerves get to him and he can't think clearly in a game? Does he not pay attention in practice and then makes the same mistakes in games? Is he not that smart of a player/person?

It's hard to believe that it would be so evident that he has ADD now and yet it hasn't been caught before. Who knows, maybe he does have some form of ADD or ADHD...

but maybe he just doesn't care and lack discipline?

Both are considerable possibilities.

I'm a diehard VOLS fan, but that doesn't mean I should be taking snaps every Saturday. I have no doubt that Crompton's heart is in the right place, but he flat out sucks. What ticks me off the most is that it took the coaches 4 games of pathetic offensive performance to even ACKNOWLEDGE that a QB change is possible. That's not to say that the coaches will in fact make a change.

if crompton stays we go 5-7 or worse. our only chance at a winning season now is to switch the guy under center.

Crompton is a good QB. You all will see. The dumbest thing I see him do is stand straight up and get busted by the D when he runs the ball. Hey.....I might have just solved his problem......He must be punch drunk. Thats it! Just SLIDE Crompton.

You are hereby out of volnation. You must of not seen him play Sat. or at all this season. Crompton is mostly to blame, you can coach all you want, but if the kid doesn't want to listen thats his fault. You can't fix stupid.

It's really too bad that he blows. He's got the passion, the love of the school, the physical attributes, but he just sucks! I am amazed at how inept he is. It's past time to change. Whoever made the decision not to send in another QB blew it. We have no more time to wait to make a change. We must do it now.

I think its a combination of both. Poor coaching is a major problem. The whole team is showing it. Crompton cant throw the o line cant block and the recievers cant catch. Its a lack of discipline, fundementals, execution. Cromton is tough and isnt afraid to take a hit but cant throw. Ainge was a good passer but was afraid to take a hit. is there some why we can combine these two?

I cannot recall one time this season Crompton has thrown a pass 20 or more yards and the ball has been within the fingertips of the receiver. I have made an assesment and Crompton is the worst QB in the conference.Snead is on fire at Ole Miss, Lee (Miss State) was moving the ball well against LSU last night and Dick @ Arkansas (the QB not Petrino) has had success under Nutt.Someone has to realize that this marriage between the "vaunted Clawfense" and Crompton needs a divorce.

The people in the stands have a better chance of catching his passes that the receivers have. He is consistant though either he throws over their heads out of bounds or throws it in the ground at their feet. How much time does he need. He would have already been benched by Spurrier or any other coach that knows what they are doing. Fulmer said that 8-23 was unacceptable DAH!!!!!!

nothing against the guy, but you know something isn't right when most of his throws are so bad the defenders can't even make a play on them.

It also doesn't help that his mouth continues to make him look silly and somehow still cocky after his performances. I didn't think he could top his dumb statments after the Florida game but his yesterday were pretty close to doing that.

Compare Crompton's post game speech to that of Tim Tebow...in my opinion it speaks to some of the issues with JC and his credibility.

Tim Tebow stood at the podium with his arms folded, took several deep breaths and then did something he's never done before, something he's never had to do. He apologized after a football game. For his poor passes. For his costly fumble. For his failed fourth-down run. He took all the blame for this one —

Crompton could not even play catch in the backyard. You would be diving to your left or right constantly.
