Back Off Crompton

Yes, he's made some mis-reads, over throws, and threw some picks. Every QB in history has done so.

Don't ya'll remember when Crompton was getting recruited that he was highly touted as a dual threat QB? He also convinced several others from that class (D-MO, for example) to come to Tennessee. Crompton is like most of us on here - Here's a true Tennessee Volunteer fan. Once he signed, he was part of what many considered to be the best signing class in the nation.

Now, a bunch of armchair knuckleheads are claiming he's an awful quarterback and should be benched. You see the problem is not Crompton, he's just not being developed by his coaches. His game play often looks pitiful, but that's not ALL his fault. Dave Clawson should take the majority of the blame for our offensive woes this season. :banghead2:

If anything, the blame is on Crompton more so than his coaches.

Although his coaches have stubbornly refused to bench him, so they both share the brunt of the blame for our offensive woes.

In College the coaches still have to teach the QB how to handoff the football to the runningback? I thought you learned that in little leauge. Yeah its the coaches :rolleyes:

I want what your smoking!! Did you not know that he had two full years to learn under the QB guru know as David Cutcliff. What does he do when he is given the reigns of this program? He looks like he has had his head in the sand. He can't make reads, he cant call audibles, hell if the receivers were 10 feet tall he still would've missed them by 20 feet. Like the announcers said during the game this week, he looks like Ainge did in 05 before Cut came back, only thing is JC apparently didn't listen to him. Clawson is doing his job, Crompton is failing miserably.

I can't believe Crompton hasn't practiced handing the ball off in practice probably 1000 times, he's been at UT for four years. Just seems like the guy doesn't have his head in the game at all times.

That 3rd and 4 at midfield where he threw the ball 10 yds deep into the stands instead of trying to scramble for a first down everyone watching the game is just scratching their head, what is he doing?

The Erik Ainge of 2005 was less inept than Mr. Crompton of 08.... and we all know how 05 went.

I understand when you're in a slump and you're just not feeling it for a game or two, but not 4 games. come on...

Even the announcers brought up the fact that he's having trouble concentrating for the full game. I've never heard that in all of my years of following sports.

I don't know which games you have been watching but Crompton is terrible. This is not pee-wee football. We can question his game play all we want.

Seriously, whatever Your smoking put it down right now and step away from the ashtray Sir...He's been in the system THREE YEARS, I believe that's time enough to be developed...Throwing the ball into the corwd and into the ground is NOT from lack of development, it's a lack of SKILL...Period...Bench his ass and give somebody else a chance to show what they got, I,love the kid because he's a real VOL but come on!

Exactly, instead of one or two boneheaded plays, we now have about ten. He needs to be on the bench, he's had his chance. Time to give someone else a shot.

Here's a thought. Does he have ADD?
Seriously. In a video of practice I saw he was just flipping the ball in the air, didn't appear to be paying attention to the coaching going on. He looked seriously bored.

Could be ADD or similar....I watched Phil coaching him up and JC had his mouth running in the direction of another player, and was not focused on Phil....looked strange to me, but pretty much on par for this kid.
