Hey, just got back home here in Augusta, GA from Columbia, outside of my sunburn from sitting in the sun and forgetting sunscreen and the fact we lost, it was 100x more fun than the last time we were in Columbia (the game before it was announced Fulmer was out)

I have just a few observations from the game I thought I'd share:

1. South Carolina fans gave no problem or trash talking the entire time, just to let those who haven't been to Columbia know (i've been to about 4 or 5 UT/USC games there now)

2. Simms has had plenty of chances to be consistent and not turn the ball over. He got hit by the same guys Bray did and he was the only one of them that fumbled (x2 at that) so I was 100% for seeing Bray and would love to see him start.

3. I saw no yelling at Wilcox by Dooley as someone noted they saw last week against Bama, so I will assume that was more of an isolated instance vs the norm.

4. I kept counting the guys on the field, they seemed to do just fine getting 11 on the field this week. One time a coach tried sending Moore out but Moore pointed out there were already 11 out there so he didn't go out, not sure who the coach was but impressive by Moore for the heads up/awareness.

5. Simms and his postgame comments rubbed me the wrong way, I have been behind him this whole time, but unless he changes his attitude, we just can not stand for any bad apples...he said he did extremely well but if that had been the case we would have been ahead, way too slow on that release. Also, he was just pacing by himself away from the rest of the team after being pulled, not a good attitude at all.

Last time I was in Columbia in 2008 we were a team sinking like a rock and you could see the team quit on the sidelines, no one standing on the sideline other than the coaches, etc. This year was completely opposite, only players sitting were listening to coaches, they didn't give up, just turnovers killed the chance we had. It's usually an 'uh-oh' when you have 1 or 2 freshmen starting but obviously we are well beyond that, but I can see them growing with the season and that bolds very well starting next year and onward.

I have been watching Kentucky and Ole Miss on tv (flipping back and forth) and already knowing about Vandy and Memphis, not saying it is a given, but the four games in November are all VERY winnable if we play like we did today or like we did against LSU, minus the turnovers. I am all for Bray getting the starts based on the better attitude, long term outlook, and the sweet throws he made for TTDs after he settled in. Hard to get too worked up over that pick, never been a QB but I imagine jumping in a game against the SEC's #1 pass rush can't be easy. I could see him rapidly improving if given most or all of the reps in November. Was good to hear the loud cheering in the Vols section I was sitting in at the game today, tough year to break guys in but it'll do wonders for the upcoming years, we're headed in the right direction, no doubt in my mind about that seeing them today, just stop making freshmen-like mistakes (no explanation needed there on why we would be having that problem!) and limit turnovers.

GO VOLS!!! (and don't complain about the length please, no cliff notes version available, head hurts from squinting while sitting in the sun, just don't read if you don't like to or can't! :good!:)

Good post. All are winnable if they cut down on the turn overs and penalties.

Great post! I agree that we should give Bray the start for the next games and see what he as to offer. I feel like we are moving in the right direction it's just very painful getting there.

Good post..We need to stick with Bray and Simms attitude is ridiculous. We can still go bowling and need to get together and form our "brand." The rest of the season is out there for the taking and besides Uga and Usuck jr we have won the only games possible. The best we can do is get our frosh more playing time! GBO and hoping for a Music City!:):dance2:

Dooley wasnt yelling at Wilcox because he spent the entire game in the booth, according to his post game presser

I just got back as well. The crowd in Columbia is always very cordial . . . but what I couldn't believe was all the empty seats. It's their best team in years and yet there were probably 5,000 empty seats. The top 10 rows in the Endzone upper deck was a ghost town.

4. I kept counting the guys on the field, they seemed to do just fine getting 11 on the field this week. One time a coach tried sending Moore out but Moore pointed out there were already 11 out there so he didn't go out, not sure who the coach was but impressive by Moore for the heads up/awareness.
The only slight issue I saw was when we ran the FG block onto the field before their missed FG attempt in the 2nd half, we did actually have 12 out there for a few seconds before one of the linemen was alerted and ran off, so no big deal.

My wife got burned pretty good too. And I was surprised with the SC fans. They were all pretty nice people

I was in the upper deck in the shade the whole game. I was up there in a windbreaker the whole game and was borderline cold a few times when the wind blew. It felt about 10 degrees warmer when I got outside the stadium after the game.

Yeah, it's kind of weird, it's only the second time in 22 games I have seen us lose in the regular season (1 other loss I saw was at the SEC title game in 2007) but I usually am super bummed after a loss, but the fact such a young team kept fighting, you can tell we are just some experience and depth away from gettings the wins instead of losses, just looking at the W/L column doesn't tell the whole story, I was more excited for the upcoming seasons and the month of november than I was bummed, outside of that one play by Alshon, we shut him down to my suprise to be honest, after what Julio Jones did I thought he'd have the stat line Denarious Moore ended up with! And man was that fake punt sweet, certainly caught me off guard!

I'd trade you! The insult to injury in regards to the loss was the fact I ended up just a couple of shades lighter than south carolinas team color! (no not the black, the burgundy or whatever the heck shade of 'red' that is...hey, I'm a guy, its some kind of red!)

Ah, well that certainly would make it more difficult! :wink2:

That's not to say he wasnt yelling at him on the headset, but having Wilcox up in the booth all game may have been one reason why the 'D' played better today...dont know but could be a help to have him higher up.
